Seen these, they fit over the existing key case. Look nice. Pricey but lots of us suffer from the dreaded crappy key case syndrome

They do look nice don’t they! But as the CF blocks the radio signals I can’t help but think that dipping is a better option.

Dipping is ok if you want 'the look' or a bit of reinforcement, I guess. But if the blue cheese that the fobs are made of is starting to crumble, then this looks like a possibility.

It is a bit odd - there seems to be a huge market for CF key fob covers, AND a huge market for CF key fob signal blockers. Maybe the key itself acts as an antenna?

You mean the blade? There's no electrical connection between the blade and the remote circuitry.

No idea that CF blockers were a thing. Really only for keyless entry I'd have thought

I was thinking some sort of electromagnetic effect, but not really my field. Maybe someone has looked into this.

If you search carbon fibre key fob, you get thousands of hits for little key fob pouches. I suppose it is a fear of thieves somehow stealing you car by pinging your fob/

Much like those wallets that 'protect' your contactless card I guess.

I'm no expert but as far as I can tell it's just plastic :)
