TBH I can imagine it's one of those things. I recall taking mine in to Giallo for $something and asking them to look at the switches because the dash illumination didn't come on with the head lights.

Nope, they have an over complex agorithm instead. Apparently huge numbers of owners from new made the complaint.

Although that's not in the manual

You don't. The computer decides when you want the dash lit. If you disagree: tough ****.
