Engine light Maserati 3200 gt

I have a Maserati 3200 gt, from October 2000. Twice, after 2 years, the engine light came on without going into recovery. The fact always occurred when the car was stationary and hot and above all after closing the bonnet. The error recorded was on the lambda probe, which however works regularly. Perhaps it is the connector ... .. in the engine compartment. I would like to buy a tool to eliminate the light on if it happens again, so as not to go to the Maserati mechanic. Do you have a tool to suggest? I believe my Maserati is still with 2 lambda probes. Thank you

It depends whether you have a proper ODBII port on the car or its the old Fiat 3 pin connector. I suspect you have the older version with the 3-pin connector. if you get your head (or perhaps your phone camera) under the dash so the back of your head is on the plastic kick plate on the floor and you are looking back up into the dash ot should be facing down towards you and look like the photo here. If its not there then you are looking for the little 3 pin Fiat connector, but also a small miracle ot get the gear to plug into it.

If you change the Lambda sensor the fault light should disappear. The engine does not go into limp mode for every engine fault detected just those that are considered dangerous to the engine or occupants. Lambda will often generate a fault light because they have become less efficient.
You could also be lucky with your cars OBD port October 2000 was the month Maserati made the upgrade from the 3 pin socket.

I had just about the cheapest OBD2 reader available and it worked on mine. Spend £30, plug it in a see if it works.
