If the team have broke the rules because they didn’t load enough fuel, then they have broke the rules. I wonder if that is the case, they loaded fuel for a usual mid field race and never expected to be leading the race virtually the whole distance without having the chance to save fuel because of keeping Vettel behind.

It would be cruel if he was stripped of the win. Wouldn’t be the first time though.

Ocon didn’t run out of fuel, he got lost!

Maybe if the worst happens, it was because he ran the wrong way up the pit lane.
I think they’ve just given him a ticking off. He said he didn’t know how to get to the winner’s park ferme so parked where he thought sensible and then had to run back.

Official line is that Seb has been disqualified as they couldn’t take the desired amount of fuel….No action taken for George. That’s **** for Seb and Aston Martin.

And I can't believe his comments on the radio about Alonso after what happened 2 weeks ago. Zero respect from me I'm afraid.
You mean because Verstappen in the race was traveling faster through that corner with a full fuel load than when he did qualifying with next to no fuel? All drivers moan over the radio and although I think Alonso was very hard with his racing and the excitement was high, but there was one or two on the limit blocks. That’s motor racing though...

I’m really surprised they didn’t design in the required fuel sample, the fuel sample rule even exists for me in a 60 year old car at a club race at Mallory.

Wasn’t there a problem with a BAR where they had a reserve tank which mean’t that they could run under weight? I guess this is why they don’t keep the extra fuel.

Gutted for Norris, Botas needs his spuds stamping on for that.

Bottas deserved the penalty but Norris coming up the inside and cutting across contributed, pulling all the downforce off Bottas's front wing reduced the load on the tyres and hence the lockup

Enough fuel for a sample at the end of a race is standard practise across lots of motorsport, Aston probably got the calculations wrong as they didn't expect to be a full tilt until the end, Vettel could slow down either as Hamilton would have had his place so they had to try and hope but unfortunately it was not to be.

As above Ocon just got lost, don't think he ever thought he would be on the podium

Googling, they’d included the ‘reserve fuel’ in the dry weight, so the car was underweight.

I have seen that they had 1.4 litres in the car, but could only pump out 0.3 litres. Bit of a shame really.

I get the sense that the minutiae of the rules are too often, a distraction. Like the politics. It dilutes racing and skews the outcome whilst its goal is to to guard against just that..
LBGTQ T-shirt admonition..? FFS.
Google driverless racing anyone?

Why don't they load the cars with exactly the same amount of fuel at the beginning and be done with it?
