Fault Code - P2097 anyone had this before?

The engine control system failure shows on a Delphi DS150e as P2097 - Post catalyst fuel trim system too rich.

This car was in with the dealer who supplied it before Christmas and they said they had cleaned the sensors. I did not get the code from them at the time.

So what to do?

I see my choice as either:

Going to Shiltech in Loughborough for an accurate diagnosis and replacement while I wait.

or

Buy two (?) new O2 sensors and have my mechanic replace them.

Thoughts anyone?

Yes but I would hope hooking this up to Maserati machine would give me a specific sensor/more information?

It is often cheaper to get the actual fault diagnosed properly using an SD2 machine than throwing parts at it in hope that it fixes the issue. From looking at that fault code which is a generic one it could be about 5 different issues.

and I found this by Conaero elsewhere on the forum...

"Check Engine Light (CEL) is the indicator when they are shot. You can then get an SD2/3 on it to find which one is broke, but its best not to bother and just replace the pair, it makes a big difference to the running of the car."

With a view that the fault disappeared for a time after the sensors were cleaned I may take a punt on two new sensors.

What's the age/mileage? Interested to know how long O2 sensors last and whether the Maserati 4 year replacement cycle is reasonable.

If Shiltech are close to you, get it in to them, they know what they are doing and it could be a cheaper definite fix, rather than a possible solution only to be revisited later..!!

No word eating required. Two rear sensors and the CEL has gone (and a smarter response when you plant your right foot)

Happy days!!!
