So shouldn't this read as 'Maserati back to designing beautiful cars'?
SO who designed the Alfieri?
Was Pininfarina involved?
All the recent Ferrari look to me as if the design was lower on the list than functionality. In the current world, the gamers and geeks prioritised over the aesthete. Hoping that some cars will be easier on the eye.

No doubt it was a committee but if Pininfarina were involved , as a contractor they would know that the customer's input and legacy would be a huge influence.

The cars by Lorenzo Ramaciotti include many of my favourites. The 612 and QP 6 are "bubbling under"

The Alfieri was created at the Maserati Centro Stile in Turin by a small group of talented young designers led by Marco Tencone. The project was masterminded by Lorenzo Ramaciotti.
Lorenzo "started his career with Pininfarina in 1972 and retired in 2005"

The GT chassis IS a cut down QP chassis.
So are the Alfa 8C and California, but those are using much shorter floorpans closer to the 4200s 104 inch wheelbase. The GTs wheelbase is around 115 inches.

If you think of it in terms of Aston Martins, what Maserati has done is essentially replace a V8 Vantage with a DB9 sizer car.

And didn’t really upgrade the engine. I know this is heretical on a Maserati forum but I drove an early 4.2 GT and was so disappointed. It is after all a GranSport-spec engine (figures-wise) yet carrying around 200kg more.

I saw a Roma outside ferrari manchester a few days before Xmas.
I thought it looked..... just ok. I was going to get out and take a pic of it, but couldn’t be bothered.
Maybe it’s just me, I thought it was a bit bland.

Still haven’t seen one in the flesh but with Ewan on this. Since the 430 was replaced every generation has had more and more Halfords tat added to it, the simpler the better for me.

Maybe just the angle, but photo #1 the glass area and people inside look so small...it looks all out of proportion.
It looked ok from where I was sitting when I took the photo! I didn’t feel disproportionately tiny when I drove it, either.

I’m not sure about “bland”. But certainly, not bling like many other recent Ferrari’s. And that is what I like about it.
Maybe bland is the wrong word, maybe it was the colour, it was blue like the one in the goodwood photo earlier. I don’t like the bling recent ones either. I didn’t dislike it, but it didn’t wow me.

Or maybe I just had covid and have lost all sense of taste. (That joke is getting old already!)

It’s the small Italian people that are out of proportion in those pics - not the car. I think you’ll find my manly frame looks fabulous in a Roma!

I do hope you’re not suggesting that Harry is butch, buff and built, Ewan? Surely instead the very pinnacle of the feminine form, so much better to grace the refined proportions of the Roma.

With you on this Ewan......As I have said before for me this is Ferraris best design for many, many years....The fact it is not in you face like the rest of the range is just evan more appealing and that is what makes it even more beautiful.....A very elegant and appealing Ferrari.

The car simply must look good in the well staged launch location. The lighting could even have been set specifically so camera phones can spread the best possible images. So far I like almost all of it but the front view just reminds the that Alfieri was the natural beauty and Roma was coerced into cosmetic surgery to maintain differential. Leslie Ash before and after surgery?
How will it look outside the Ace Cafe on a wet Wednesday?

I don’t think you can say Ferrari influenced my photos with their lighting - we could walk all around them and sit inside them at the launch. I just particularly liked the photo with the red laser squiggling above the car.
For an idea of scale, here I am at Goodwood, loitering for longer than I should have. Please note I have a few lockdown pounds on me!
