Hi all

Just purchased my first Maserati - a 2013 Granturismo S in black. I was concerned before I bought it that I might be making a mistake as the 2011 Jag XFR I was trading in was more powerful, more practical and undoubtedly cheaper to run. But I've had the GT for 4 days now and I haven't stopped smiling. I'm head over heels. Oh the sound!!

It's only done 25K miles but I'm planning on running it as a daily driver for a year and selling it before it gets to 40K.

Nice to meet you all virtually

Great looking car!

I'm also new to GTS ownership and will be using my car as a daily driver, or at least my most practical car.

I agree, the sound is really special, and as a GT, it does what it says on the tin.

Bargain that, I was going to buy it but you’re the chap who beat me to it. A Sport Pack 13 reg car for £39k is great value, even better if you paid less. The fact it was from Lancasters and has a 2 year warranty is even better. Many congratulations.

Wow, well done that man.

dickygrace - sorry to have deprived you of the car. Only one year warranty though. I presume you've seen the white 2012 model they have for sale at a similar price?

Funny thing, I play a bit of golf and you can just squeeze a set of clubs into the GT's boot. Whilst I was at Lancaster's, a chap turned up in an open top Aston, removed his golf clubs from the boot and immediately wandered over to the Lancaster salesman and the open boot of a brand new Ferrari California. He tried every which way to make the golf clubs fit but they just wouldn't go in. I guess that was one very disappointed salesman.

You don’t need to apologise, I run a Maserati sales business so I was only buying to re-sell. The white car is the same price despite being a year older and having an extra 14k miles on it so nowhere near the value you got. Regards the warranty, I do recall Contigo saying on here a couple of weeks ago that only certain Main Dealer cars are CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) which seems a little unfair. Your car is over 4 years old so therefore ineligible. I’d hope it would still have the same level of checks etc, bar the warranty.

So, 2 weeks in and I'm still totally wowed by the car. All the practical stuff - radio, AC, Bluetooth, screen clearing etc is rubbish - but all is forgiven when you drive it. The USB in the glovebox doesn't work and the dealership says that I need to spend £129 on a gadget to make it work! Really? Surely USB is USB? I've bought a Lightning to Aux cable and can now get Radio 5 Live (normally DAB only) from my iPhone, playing through the car speakers. I've also, today, bought a Bluetooth handsfree gadget that clings to the sun visor so I'll see of that is better than the (rubbish) built-in Bluetooth.

I had flappy paddles in my previous Jag XFR but used them once on the first day, decided they were pointless and never used them again. On the GTS, I tend to drive with Sport engaged and use the paddles 'cause you can play tunes with the engine. Love it!

The USB slot is slightly larger than standard. I’m being serious...only in an Italian car will you find such madness... Anyway I found a way of fitting a standard USB Bluetooth transmitter in there by deforming the usb connector of the Bluetooth transmitter. I will try and dig out my previous post on this.

Your GTS is an amazing looking car. Only had mine 6 months but I agree with the smiles it gives every time you get any excuse to drive it.
Just need the roads to dry up!!
Enjoy.

Hi, Stindig, and welcome. We had the same XFR - GTS journey (I had a Merc in between, but I don't like to talk about that), and I had the same concerns that the GTS might feel a bit down in toys and grunt. If it does, I never noticed. I ended up driving the XFR in normal auto mode all the time as well; has to be said, that ZF 'box is a dream and the torque on the Jag is extraordinary. Deciding which gear to use never really mattered, and the noise wasn't enough to play exhaust music with anyway.

Regarding musical tunes in the GTS, I just dumped my music onto a USB still and plugged it in. Didn't bother with trying to connect the phone. On a Mac, I used tomp3converter to turn my iTunes library into mp3s, BlueHarvest to strip out the weird artifact files that otherwise showed up on the infotainment display and then just plugged the USB stick in. Worked a treat, and I never had any issues with the plug being the wrong size.
