Flat battery and boot won't open at all

Hi, got woken up by my 2009 4.7 GTS last night with the alarm going off. Whatever I tried with the fob I couldn't disarm it nor open the car manually with the key. After 15 minutes it stopped. This morning, Christmas tree of lights and no turn over. Seemed a flat battery. AA out and he got the car started but couldn't get into the boot no matter what he tried. He couldn't move the car, seemed the handbrake was stuck on. He said it would need relaying to a garage. He left. I turned the car off, back on and I can now drive it off the drive but the boot release doesn't work with any of the 3 options - manual, button on dash, button on fob, so I can't get to the battery. The boot button feels 'softer' than it did. I wonder if the boot and flat battery are connected (stuck solenoid draining the battery?) or is the boot not opening because of the flat battery? If it's only the battery, if I can get to it I can change it and not have to go to a garage. However, if it's the boot switch causing the problem, then I assume a new battery will simply drain straightaway. Two immediate things. Can I get into the boot and can I lock the car manually without arming the alarm - don't want to upset the neighbours! Any helpful ideas please!

On my 09 QP when this happened you could sometimes get in by pushing down slightly on the boot as you pushed the button to release it. If that doesn’t work and you’re feeling very brave...

But entirely at your own risk :)

Either way the answer for me was a new boot release motor!

Push down on boot and use the key....worked when my motor burned out but may not work if battery flat

So, eventually found the manual release cable tucked well under seat and carpet. Had to take seat base out but only two bolts, so not too bad. Easy pull and boot open. Hooray! Battery is January 2015, showing 12.05 volts on a battery tester. Car runs after AA charged it up this morning and no warning lights but still all 3 usual ways of getting into the boot are not working. I've taken off the plastic/rubber over the boot switch. This seems okay and you can hear the click of the switch working, so that seems okay. I assume there's a solenoid behind there somewhere. Could it be that? If that is stuck, could that have drained the battery? Got battery on trickle charge to see what it does. Any other thoughts?

Thanks all. Handbrake and everything else now seems to be working fine, save for boot opening. Still not too sure about the battery, so I think we'll go for new there anyway. No harm with winter not too far off. Yep, could be broken cable/cable shorting or maybe boot actuator - if it has one?? So, it's getting into the boot lid next. Looks easy enough - famous last words.....

Thanks all. Simple fix in the end. Battery replacement and a bit of key fob playing soon got everything functioning perfectly. Thanks for the advice.

Mark, have you tried turning the key in the manual opening lock on the boot lid, holding it fully turned for a second or two while simultaneously pressing the electronic boot release button on the lid? I did this when the boot lid on my 2009 QP wouldnt open. Suddenly the selonoid burst into life and everything was working normally again. So no battery reset needed or a 2hr round trip to Bowker Maserati to fix it and charge me something outrageous for doing so. Worth a try.
