Called my insurance company today about adding the GS to the policy. The additional premium?
Zero!

What a result. A 400bhp Maserati with free insurance!

All I need now is for Autoshield, Emblem, Meridien, SportsItalia, etc to tell me the servicing is free also. Any takers...?

When I changed the plate on the Continental it was £0. Not quite the same but I was happy :)

I like Venturis, I don’t know if they’re any good or not but it feels like they could’ve had the potential to be something more than a one hit wonder. Maybe if they were taken over by Peugeot back then to be their version of Alpine.

They're rather shy creatures and tend to hide from the public. This one was spotted in the grounds of a stately home:

They were always an odd ball choice in the UK. I used to get my my GTA serviced by Alan Matthews in Dorset and he had the first 400gt in. Didn’t get a ride, but was shocked by the carbon brakes and the likely shelf life. Ended up buying an Atlantique from Nick Mee and loved it but it always let me down. Eventually traced the issues to the aftermarket installed at the factory immobiliser, but the love had waned and family grown...

Thats mine! I arrived there nice and early that day so could park in the main driveway and take lots of nice photos.
Even drove there and back with show plates on, by mistake.
I'm hoping we'll soon be back there Ewan, seems soooooo long ago now. You could bring the GS......

It was previously sold for £9,000 by H&H Classics at Duxford in March 2019.

Such a shame to see this car in such a state. A real project car probably requiring heater matrix, clutch and an overhaul of brakes at the very least.

I hope a true enthusiast takes this on.

Based on the above, I feel £5,000 is probably all its worth and then a lot of time and money to bring this up to scratch.

It's at £8100 with 3 days to go! Madness

There is a manual classico at Auction with a similar spec. 50k miles on the clock... If I was in the market! Although at this point I do not fancy starting from scratch restoring another manual 4.2 coupe and this looks like it needs a lot of love

Not serviced in over a decade... Decade old tyres on the rear, budgets on the front, ruined discs, rusty boot area, drivers seat not working, broken fuel cap, clutch smelling and barely driven in 12 years... Remember to take a barge pole; a very long one at that.

Sold for £11,250 plus premium.

A car that was bought in March 2019 for £9,000 and was a bit ropey then with no evidence of any one work done since and with a burning smell when they moved it around the yard now.

Not saying for one moment that all 4200s are on the rise but clearly a manual in desirable green is tickling someone's buds.

Maybe Ewan couldn't help himself and just had to have a Verde Goodwood sibling for the GS, or maybe Ewan's penchant for green rather than blue will be the automotive equivalent of Bitcoin in 2021.

I know that car. I turned it down several years ago at £13,500. Since then its had a fair bit of work and is, apparently, a nice car now. But still, it's not a £40k car when compared to an equivalent 911 or Maserati (for example). You are paying a big premium for the rarity, and the the feeling you get from driving something a bit different.

But that is only the single turbo version. The one I sold a year or so back was 1 of the only 2 twin-turbo cars, so I don't think I'd now downgrade to that. Nice though it is.
There's a silver one for sale also. High miles (about 100k) but good history, reliable, and "only" about £23k (from memory).
And the chap with the other twin-turbo car would sell that as well. Its light blue, and would be available, I suspect, at high 30's.
So that's at least 3 RHD Venturi Atlantiques available now.

The silver 300 is up for £24,750.

Is it true @Ewan there are only 6 RHD 300s?

What is known about the history of the 100k mile car above?

The 'Bermondsey' car we had both seen in or around 2011 was mid teens from recollection when it needed a lot of work. You said above that even with the work done and the rarity you didn't consider it good value at £40k. It is relatively low mileage in comparison and I prefer both the exterior and interior.

Is the silver high-miler known to be in good condtion? As always, if this were a Porsche mileage would not be such a huge factor in price. What do you consider to be good value for the silver car?

I believe the silver car belonged to a friend in Worcestershire. He had a silver GTA before it , had some European adventures and used to get it serviced by ex Factory people Extreme Limite in France. Never saw his Venturi in the flesh myself though, as he turned up at my place in a achingly gorgeous A110 en route to a trip to Ireland. Nice bloke with a proper interest in French exotics.

Ewan might know more, but I always thought there were 18 RHD built, about half of which went to Asia/Australia and the rest sold through Nick Mee. Nick spent (lost) a lot on promoting the cars in the UK and was responsible for the pretty decent media coverage. The market wasn’t ready back then - fewer people bought super cars and the majority of those that did plumped for 911s.

As a daily, mine was a delight to drive, but spent far too much time having issues addressed. I would think as a special occasion car, they are a better option. When I moved to Wales and used it sparingly, it was a different problem. Being so far away from the “specialists” meant I head to learn how to do some jobs myself like adjust the clutch and gearbox cables. I had some better versions made by speedy cables, but when kids came along, I sold it to fund a 456 family car.

@dgmx5 I would expect to see it back in another auction in 6-10 months time. After the owner gets an estimate on bringing it up to a drivable standard (circa £10k or more) they will not want to keep it

Ref the silver Venturi, as Hurricane says, it was owned for ages by a chap in Warwickshire. I have his details so can put you in touch if needs be. It has loads of history and he has used it around Europe and the UK, hence the high-ish mileage.

I also have the details for the last owner of the grey car. Again, he’d had it ages, but never really had it runNing correctly and hardly every used it. He sold it about a year or two back for mid twenties (from memory). If it’s now all fixed and running correctly, I’d value it at about £30k.

Numbers wise, I have a list somewhere, but from memory 6 is correct for UK RHD Atlantique 300 single-turbo cars. Plus then the final two cars, which were twin-turbo cars, of which mine was one.

The other twin-turbo I suspect would be available for towards £40k. I have the owners details.

So if you are serious about buying one, give me a call and we can chat.

Who said green cars are unlucky?

9 1/2 years ago now when I set my company up (when I didn't have a pot to p*ss in) I bought a 300 quid Mondeo off eBay as I needed a car.
That lasted exactly 28 days before it blew up on the M25.
In the breakdown truck I bought an Arctic Verde (snot green as I called it) Alfa 156 for the princely sum of 700 quid.
In two years and 30,000 miles of ownership it only failed me once (flat battery) and I only ever needed to put tyres on it, never needed a drop of oil (rare for a twinspark) and put me on the road to where I am now.

I'd say it was the best car I ever owned for so many reasons. I'd say green is far from unlucky. For me at least.

I had a couple of 156. Both great. 2l TS and a 2.5 V6 Both with the tea-tray, blue metallic and tan leather interior (which I retrofitted to the V6)

Drove the V6 back from South London in 5th, not knowing it had a 6 speed box

Great cars but also a long history of Alfa ownership
