Stuart, I'd suggest if the dealer only has a £5k mark-up you should not be too upset with your quick sale deal, especially if you are getting the replacement car for a good price. Not only has the dealer got to deduct warranty cost and negotiated discount from the sticker price (as mentioned earlier), but also overheads such as premises and staff. He also now has north of £30k in capital tied up, or bank interest accruing if running a working capital overdraft. I think he must be bargaining on potential buyers having done their homework re maintenance work completed and hoping for a quick turnaround before year end. Otherwise, to the uninitiated, punters will go to the dealers with lower miles cars at the money he is asking.

Sharkman, I'm with you re the stone chip. I'm one of those people who never gets anything done for me right first time so I'd have gone the "touch up" route rather than risking paint mismatch or microblistering etc. Would go the full panel repaint route once panel has collected a few chips.

See you had a 355 as I did too... now that used to pick up chips standing still! Very soft paintwork on those indeed..

I wasn't local and really wanted to see a decent photo before travelling a long way and wasting both my time and the sellers if the chip was bigger than I thought. In my view I try to avoid paintwork if possible as I've seen too many mismatches on darker cars between 'new' and 'old' even when quite reputable bodyshops do the work.

As I said in my ad & to you when I sent you the photo of the stonechip, the bonnet really did need a repaint to bring it up the standard of the rest of the car and Nuvola's excellent bodyshop would have done this for £350+VAT and then for a little less than £33,500 you would have had a fantastic car and I genuinely think you will struggle to find one this good for that price. I hope for your sake that I'm wrong.

I was very happy with the deal I did with Dan @ DT, he contacted me & made an offer which I accepted. He immediately paid a deposit before he came to view the car and then came to collect the car the next day. After a 10 minute look around & quick spin, there was no haggling, just an immediate payment of the balance and he was on his way after half an hour in total. He has to make money so good luck to him.

I don't know if my car was too cheap but the fact that it was advertised for a month and not a single person came, then maybe it wasn't too cheap but it could be the time of year too.

From my point of view, I needed to sell quicky as I am in the process of putting a deal together right now for my next car and wasn't prepared to have my cash tied up in another car. And as I said, onwards and upwards - good luck to DT with selling my old car, good luck to you sharkman07 in finding what you are looking for at the right price and I can't wait to tell you all about my next car if this deal comes off!

Gutted - £33,500 - Wish I'd had somewhere to store it in the meantime!!!

That's a mental price imo, even Beau would have been proud to have got one at that price!!!

Well done on the sale Stuart, and the thread makes an entertaining read over here on the other side of the world!

Thanks all, I'm pleased that's is sold but as mental as the price may look I was hardly having to beat buyers away, far from it. I guess a private sale with 50k+ miles away and that's the market value.

I just don't understand why similar miles 4.2s are being advertised at dealers for not far off that.
I think people in the market for a GTS missed out on yours.

If I had been in the market for a GT Stuart I would have taken it like a shot. Not sure why a canny buyer didn't surface. A good deal all round & works for both parties. Someone missed out.

Thank you so much, but oh I do wish you had mentioned the figure of £33k to me as I would have bought it unseen at that money! I was thinking in terms of the £35k but either way I am pleased you got a result and look forward to seeing your next motor!

I'm sorry we didn't get to meet and there was a slight miscommunication but genuinely excited for you, getting a new car is always nice...!

If I pulled my finger out & built some houses I would have far less storage space. Until that point I have quite a bit. How many cars can you get on 2 acres at x per month

I got to get the planning first! Doesn't help I've just started a new business as well!! If anyone needs very intelligent door entry/access systems with loads of other bells/whistles/auditing/reporting & more you need this system.....it is awesome  Keys are now a thing of the past. Never change locks ever again.
