Probably a good thing, as would of found it hard coming up with an explanation for the purchase. I had a good one for the last car (I missed having a convertible).......... So thanks Dean!!

LOL..... thanks. Maybe a move back to the old house would help.

It is no bad thing I guess. Nice to be surrounded by a plethora of different automobiles. Would love to get them all inside on one place. I feel a new shed build coming on!

Would be great if they could change the car tax situation so you could actually take any car whenever you felt like it. Rather than playing the silly and time consuming SORN or tax game each month.

Dean, do you take a similar approach with insurance each month?

Luckily not. I have a policy that covers me on upto 10 cars for myself and my wife. Just need to keep the MID updated so fairly pain free....apart from paying it each year of course!

It's worth whatever somebody will give you for it, I got one offer on my 4200 which was less than your offer which I took , if it needs a £4000 clutch I'd think the £6500 offer is pretty close.

Is the clutch slipping, does it drive ok

4K for a clutch !!!! Really...that's just stupid money.....Thought they were around 2k and even then its a lot.

I think a clutch can be done for a lot less than 4k. I think I will be looking at all the possible and viable options if I needed to replace a clutch. It is not a complex or exotic materialed thing on a 4200. I could understand if it were carbon fibre or something but I don't understand it is.

Me neither....When I had one in my manual M5 it was £500.. Why would a 4200 be any different as both high performance cars.

I don't get it either. I understand the labour might be more if harder to change but if someone is selling a 500 clutch for 1500 half the issues start to occur there. There will often be an alternative part or option. It is just finding a viable alternative. Or buying the right part at the right price at the right time. A distressed purchased often means you only can buy what is available at that time which limits options.

I would always try to avoid cheap tat though as that is often what it is. I always like to see some value though and 1k-1.5k seems an inflated cost for a 4200 clutch as a single part. I'm not tight and happy to pay a decent price for a decent part. I'm not a fan of paying over the top for something that doesn't warrant it though.

It's just £2k in parts then labour has to be accounted for... Plus any thing else that rears its head or fights back along the way

The triple plate dry clutch is £1250 for some reason the manual clutch costs £300 more than CC but there they are pretty much the same!

Because Maserati , surely they can't have had a bespoke clutch made for the 4200 , there must be one from something else that's the same

Has anyone ever taken one to a parts supplier and tried to match it up
