I'm selling the DBW module from my late 4200. Had it in the car for ~ 2 years, makes one **** of a difference, and would not have been without it.
Will require a new wiring loom (can be source from FD I'm sure), along with reprogramming if used in a GS.

Open to offers, cost over 1K from Performance Italia.

If you have a 4200/GS without one of these, get one. Big difference, you will wonder how you managed without one for so long!

To add a balances view, two people I know who's opniions I respect highly have said not to bother with these. It was to be my first mod on the GS. 18 months in, still not done it.

All I'll say is; I'm glad I fitted it to mine. It might even extend clutch life too. Russell at Autoshield is convinced it does; mine is now up to 43 k on what I believe to be the original clutch and it gets a very hard life.

What is noticeable, and it also states in the owners manual as well, is that gear changes are quicker above 5,000 rpm. A quicker change below 5,000 rpm will be welcome, which the DBW module achieves I believe by tricking the gearbox software to believing the engine is above 5,000 rpm all the time.

It's worth keeping in mind - and it is not clear on the website - that there are various configurations available.

My original unit went back because I was not convinced of the differences, but the new unit, with a Very Aggressive setting, was much better and I would not be without it.

After driving my Maser around the track, and experiencing quick changes (over 5,000 rpm), having the same changes (I hope!) below 5,000 rpm will be good! My instructor even commented how quick and firm the changes where...it does really wonder what Top Gear where doing when they first tested the 4200...non Sport mode changing gear below 5,000 I can only imagine!

Have one on my QP, would not be without it as it makes a huge difference...
As Maser Sod says, Jeff at FD can configure the module for different settings,
this basically means that the time taken for the gear change to be made is sped up,
hence the possible improvement in clutch wear...I take this a very nice bonus :D

I'm thinking about going for the FD DBW for my QP automatic and read your thread with interest.

Can I ask if/how the you can switch on/off the mod and how it is impacted with the stock sport mode button.

My concern is that I often use the QP for long business Motorway journeys and usually switch off sports mode for these, switching it back on when I need it.

Whilst I would like the benefits of the DBW when it sports mode, I would not want to lose the comfort and MPG for the long cruising.

Best regards,

Jason

I find that the change speed is related to the accelerator position; if you have half throttle the changes are better than standard but with full throttle they zip up and down the box very much better. My favourite; high gear and low speed, for example coming out of a 30, bury the throttle and change down 1 gear every second or so. The engine blips the throttle and the revs go up like climbing stairs and, coupled with a very loud exhaust, the effect is startling, much to everyone's delight! I wouldnt know about the sport off situation as I never drive mine in that configuration. Sorry.

Secondary dual pipe LArini.jpgHi to everyone,

I just bought a 2006 Maserati 4200 Cambiocorsa and I am planning to remove the secondary cat + the dented pipe with a dual pipe similar to the larini one. Do anyone know the diameter of the larini dual pipe? I would guess a 450mm or 500mm.
I post the picture just for the sake of clarity.

Second question is, I am also very interested in the Drive By Wire Enhancement Module (DBWEM) but I am just a little bit worried about damaging the gearbox.
Seems everyone is very focused on the fact that actually it does good to the clucth, I think that it could stress to much the gearbox!

have you heard any problem to the gearbox due to it?

engine and gearbox never fail on the 4200. They;re reliable cars...not as any 3200 (i know some people here will kill me :) )
LeoNardo is a tunimg company that tunes the 4200 up to 550 hp, and the gearbox still goes..

Engine only fails if you drive through lot of water, as there is a chance of water entering the intake.

So, go for it, lot of mebmers have the DBW.
