Frank I've done loads of euro track days with my bike.

The big cost is getting the car there. With bikes this was easy just hire a transport firm who have the jigs to carry bikes,40 in one truck made it very cheep. The last one I did was Guadix 2008 the 3 day open pit was £410.00 flights & hotel extra but still very good value.

French trackdays are very cheap and very informal, did an Abbeville/Ecuyers double header last winter in the Porsche.

Abbeville was frozen over so we weren't allowed out, arrived Ecuyers next morning to find the same thing... but more of a laissez-faire - go out if you want, so I did. A 911 on summer tyres is not a car for an icy track, very hard, scary work.

But chunnel + cheap motel + cheap trackday does not equal much money. Think the two-dayer was about £160 inclusive (food extra!) with money back for the first day.

It's doable.

...for nothing....a 3 day channel return for £29 ......£100 of petrol....stay 2 nites....not a bad option!!

Lewis that is very cheap mate but a long slog if the track is a no-go.

Ineded... so we drove to Paris for the afternoon, had lunch overlooking at the Eiffel Tower and a very pleasant stroll round in the winter sunshine. It's not like being stuck at Llandow ;)

I'd be up for a European track day, but getting the numbers required would be a big ask I think?

If this is the way we're going, the best thing to do is contact Lotus on Track and probably pay to join them. They are affiliated with SELOC and where we normally make our numbers up.

They have a Le Mans circuit (Bugatti forllowed by Maison Blanc) double header in August... If we're going to do France, where better? Especially for our big cars, many French circuits are small and tight, more suited to Elise type cars.

So maybe if we made contact with the French Owners Club / forum and Lotus on Track?

How many would be interested? Something to begin planning for 2012?

Wouldn't be cheap which ever way you dress it up, but for a combination of a few days away, a bit of a Euro bash and some track time, I'd be interested......

Other interested parties?.......
