Well, basically, we're going to part company. Love the car but it's just not me, or fits with my job (whatever it may be)....

Not going to post a load of details as I have an acceptable offer already, but anyone interested in owning one of the most iconic engines in a car that (I'm afraid to say) makes a GT look like a child's toy, drop me a DM

Good Luck with the sale and what you get into next Chris.

Something rather more pedestrian I feel....

The Continental is really rather impractical and, in truth. I have no real idea what I need or what I want.

Another member has a great deal up which will almost certainly keep me mobile and I have plans for 2022.....

It certainly isn't you, Bentleys are for gentlemen. Obviously excluding MAF as well. :D

Maybe :D

Seriously, yes. They are pretty much ideal for hacking around with the ability to cover long distances at reasonable speed in comfort with many suitable toys. And there's one available from a trusted member (no I don't mean he's a tool) It's a sort of 'why wouldn't I' moment.

I did a quick search on AutoTrader for upto 100k, petrol engines over 3litre and 350bhp 2doors and there's quite a mix... obviously some dross too...

I think the real issue we're having is that not having at least occasional rear seats seriously limits what we can use it for. Like today :(

So we shall see (I'll get round to testing a Giulia at some point)

We have had several in at work from SuperSports to v8 and W12

Whilst I appreciate them they are not for me but I am struggling with the GT being a child’s toy, I don’t see it, just my HO

Good luck in the search, lots of cars out there and little time to have them all

Panamera? It’s oddball and left field and for that I like it.

Love the Continental and have always wanted to own one but I think like you despite its many skills does it really fit the bill other than along distance Euro cruiser which we do so rarely in n normal times never ind this day and age.

I keep coming back to the classics why do I need anything better than maybe a Merc W124 CE or even an SL, the stylish salons from the late 80s early 90s will do everything you need for a daily driver with a bot more style than the modern stuff. OK you have maintenance and bodywork to worry about but lets face it, even moderns have more problems than they should Maser subframes a case in point and they are not the only one although others tend to keep it a bit quieter.

If I need something more modern to do the front then a E61 BMW Estate ticks a lot of boxes and even with the lowly 2.5 diesel are more than quick enough for most journeys. Lots to consider and over there you have choices, here the VRT limitation and now VAT and import duty form the UK have made it almost impossible to consider anything less than 30 years old unless you bring in from the EEC and accept LHD

Slightly surprised by how much Merc you can get, actually!

How do you mean "Child's Toy"?

Fortunately I don't need to hurry into something, which is convenient.

Oh I see

Yeah, I think it's more the quality of the interior construction that hit me. Feels like a totally different approach.

Having said that, I am very sure I'll buy another GT because, they are stonking. It's more about going from one to tother (and then only when you're standing still) :)
