Ghibli V6 S buyers guide?

OK cheers for that. Funnily enough, as well as my Alfa spider, I have an Insignia VXR Estate. It's surprisingly unchavvy and sounds pretty good as it's a V6 turbo, obviously not as good as a Maser or Alfa busso V6. I shall be keeping it, as it's needed to cart my drumkit around in, I don't think a Ghibli or Giulia would be that great for that.
As for the x pipe option, does it just accentuate the standard sound, or does it change the timbre as well as being louder?

Just accentuates it. Slightly louder but not silly. Let's you hear what the engineers wanted before the emissions folks got in the way!

That's sounds good to me, I'll look into those at some point then. Yes, they are cheap now, but I won't be buying one that cheap personally. Ideally I don't want anymore than 25000 on it, but we'll see what's about I guess...

I went from a 4200CC to a Ghibli diesel just over a year ago. Not quite as fast, but I had the ECU remapped to put it from 275 to 310BHP. Also installed the Kufatec sound booster recently which gives a nice note to the exhaust especially in Sports mode. I return around 32MPG.

Go for one with as many extras as possible like a Sports Pack, extended leather, Premium Pack, Cold Weather Pack, Convenience Pack. Also, get one with 20/21" wheels if possible, as the smaller ones don't look as good (in my view).

The weakest point and only issue I've had is the headlight washer failing. It is a known issue.

Okey doke. Points noted there, thank you very much. What actually happens to the washers?
The seals break and the washer fluid leaks out at a rapid rate meaning the headlight and windscreen washers won't work. Happened to mine, and it was a real pain until fixed.

Is that not re-callable? Surely having no windscreen wipers is a serious issue?

Unfortunately not. The entire headlamp washer unit (one side not both - unless both are leaking) has to be replaced. It's a front bumper off job and a very expensive part at around £450 per side.

I uploaded a couple of old videos for you of mine on cold start. Petrol ghibli, x-pipe, cold start. Made a little louder by it being in the garage and the cold start happens with exhaust valves open so it is only loud for 15 seconds or so.

You can plug off the headlight washer line as an easy fix.. but only if you have a friendly MOT garage as technically it's a fail.
I think mine went on a very cold night and cant have had enough screen wash in so froze in the pump and goosed it. Needless to say it's very concentrated now

thats a high mileage,

For a V8 petrol weekend car maserati yes, for a diesel it's nothing, I've had 400k out of a transit van , as dicky said it's too much money for those miles but if it was 10k which they will be before very long it's a lot of car for the money, poshest taxi in town.

The Ghibli is marketed to be used, aimed at the BMW/Merc market rather than the supercar market

Do you know where on the line to plug it, and how to get to it? Mine has a leak. I took the washer fuse out thinking it'd stop the water pumping to those lines, but that didn't work.
any guidance would be most appreciated.
I don't need headlamp washers (in fact, I don't like how they leave streaks up the bonnet)

I think its a bumper off job to disconnect the headlamp washers. @conaero can assist with the answer I'm sure.

There may be a fuse to stop the headlight washers function... or do what I do in the 4200s/GS and turn off the headlights when spraying the screen. (Thats just to stop the covers whipping off when going briskly)

You can get to the line from the passenger side wheel arch. Take the wheel and wheel arch liner off. The washer bottle is there along with 2 motors.. one for the windscreen one for the headlights.. I'm sure you can plug something there...
