Glove box lock

Hi All

The handle on my glove box failed; the plastic lug at the back that opens the latch when the handle is pulled snapped off at the base. Anyway, managed to get another one on e bay that will arrive shortly. It will arrive with lock but without key. No big deal as I never locked it anyway but it would obviously be nice to switch over the old lock tumbler into the replacement handle / latch.

It looks like the lock tumbler is held in by a brass spring clip / circlip but it is not accessible from the outside, in terms of pulling it to one side to let the tumbler fall out. Is it the case that a gentle punch from the back will push the lock out of the clip?

If anyone has made this changeover their guidance on how to do it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

If it's a 'normal' circlip you'd be better off with the correct size of circlip pliers to avoid butchering everything, but I have no first hand experience.

Thanks. It is not a normal circlip and there is no access to apply circlip style pliers anyway, which is what is making me suspicious it is a spring fit. Just keen to confirm.

Good question, alas the lack of a picture against my name highlights my lack of capabilities in that area.
