Gran Cabrio - Bad Radio Reception - What's involved in fixing it

Hi,

The radio reception in my GranCabrio has recently deteriorated massively - to the point where it's not even worth trying to listen to anything. Not the biggest problem in the world, but I would like to fix it.

I have no idea what's involved in picking up a radio signal in a GranCabrio - I presume the antenna can't be in the rear windscreen, as that wouldn't work with the roof down.

Is this a DIY job, or do I need to wait until the car next visits a garage?

Aerial x2 are in the boot lid. Might be a loose connection, faulty antenna I guess. 13 and 14 in diagram.

When this happened in my BMW 6 series convertible it was a stressed aerial wire broken exactly where there was a bend in the boot lid. So as the boot lid moved, the bend part chaffed and eventually broke. A 30 min solder job and shrink wrap fixed that problem.

Based on the helpful pics that Gazcw shared I’d also look at any parts of the wire where it moves or gets stressed by other moving parts.

I'm lazy - is this the same for the Granturismo?

Edit - is the GT alternative? I ask as I had some cable damage in the boot lid conduit.

Sounds the aame as what I mentioned above in my 6-series. The conduit, where it bent in the bootlid.
