Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Gransport, ideally low mileage with a strong service history.

Ideal spec;

Any shade of blue, or fuji white (ideally not the technical blue interior)

I'm in a position to buy so can move on the right car quickly.

Many thanks.

Exciting times!
There will be something available and your post may well garner someone considering selling, but not been advertising at the moment.
GS is a great choice, but then I would say that.

There are at least two with that spec in the for sale section right now, your timing is excellent!

Here's hoping, I thought this would be the best place to bring some options to the table.

Yes, currently in discussion with one - the other is lovely but too high mileage for me (unless there is another one i'm missing?)

Re service history these cars require 12 month engine oil changes and 36 month transmission/differential oil changes with no excuses. Obviously recent history is most important as skipping a service 10 years ago probably makes no difference now if everything was kept up since then

Buying a sub 25k mile car that's 15 years old with 5 stamps in the book is more a a gamble than buying a 70k+ mile car that has been regularly maintained

This is spot on….I am not sure a low miles car is the way to go unless you are wanting a garage Queen to be sat in a garage most of the time. Something that has been used and looked after is a better bet probably.

Its a preference thing, general wear and tear on the interior for example should be better with a lower mileage car - resale should also help/be quicker, there is a reason you pay more for a lower mileage car, obviously servicing is massively important - hence my original message around spec.

I get the sell piece but then you will pay a lot less for a higher mile one. These cars are very hard to sell and with a very small market they can sit around for an age. For me that history and condition is the most important bits with these cars now they this old….But it you find a good one get it inspected by an independent and it could save you a lot of pain. Look forward to seeing how you get on and what you go for.

Thanks Andy, i'm trying to be as careful and thorough as possible, this would be my first Mas and I'm keen to get it right.

Any other buying advice would be greatly appreciated? so far I've been advised to look out for subframe corrosion, suspension issues, heater matrix issues, clutch etc....

What is low miles?

3k pa?... or less?

anything up to 50k ideally, I see so many of them sitting around for so long for sale with higher millage - I do get you can source a high miles car which has been serviced well. I tend to by high mileage cars, cosworth's, m3s etc.....but on this occasion I feel i would like to have a low mileage example

Given they don't loosen up until about 30k miles, a 14-20 year old car with less than that on it is really under used and is going to have issues from sitting around so much. Urby was told to change his tyres this year or it would not get a clean MOT, the tyres still had the chicken strips on them but were aged out. Low mileage is not going to protect the hoses or heater matrix, it won't stop the rockers leaking, or the door seals drying out. It will cause your door locks to seize up, the suspension rubbers to crack, the seats to stop working etc. Good maintenance and garaging are far better points to look for. There is a yellow spyder not far from me that is very low mileage but has sat outside for 15 years at least and frankly is going to be a project for whoever takes it on.

Oh yes (edit) and then there is the sticky issue.... I mean everywhere, I sat in mine last week and well anything black in the cabin is sticky, every button, cowling, vent, handle recess etc. sticky everywhere!

I’ve got one of the best I’ve ever had just sorting out listing it. Do give me a call if you’re looking for a good one. Richard.
