You can get half domes to cover the holes in the screen.

Just get an alloy tank if you don’t need the bag. I can recommend Concept Racing. https://www.conceptracing.co.uk/

I think it’s unlikely to be the bag itself that’s leaking and more likely unions or the cover plate.

Taking advantage of this sunny weather, a few jobs have been completed on the race car recently -

. Aux 12v power socket fitted
. Dead key for extra security - the car doesn't have any door locks and can just be fired up with a toggle switch & push button starter
. Reverse lights now fitted - the car has standard GT light clusters on the boot which still had bulb holders & bulbs present! There is a redundant toggle switch on the console which now connects to these lights so whilst you need to remember to operate the switch when reversing, it was a whole lot easier than getting to the switch on the gearbox
. Steering wheel hook fitted to rollcage. You need to remove the wheel to get in & out of the car and there never seems to be a convenient place to rest the steering wheel as the cable linking the wheel controls to the main dashboard is quite short
. New wide angle convex rear view mirror fitted, now my rear view is filled with even more rollcage when I'm trying to reverse!
. Decal set chosen & ordered. Hopefully this will be manufactured & ready to fit next month which will transform the look of the car

The next job will be to work on trying to make it less leaky. I have some neoprene waterproof strip from Demon Tweaks to fit under the windows and have sourced some caps to use as blankers for the drilled ventilation holes in the rear screen. Hopefully the end caps for using at the bottom of tubular chair & table legs will do the trick!

I have a sticking handbrake which needs to be attended to as well as a suspicious petrol smell from the tank so it could be time to investigate & change the foam filled bladder tank which will be a costly job but it can wait as I can't really drive the car at the moment - it's hardly the vehicle to take out on essential grocery trips!

C'mon now Stu, Wot no fitted webcam so we can see that sickly grin, thats half the fun right there for us onlookers

Yes, I was thinking about a cover such as this -
68568

but then I would like the holes plugged up altogether rather than just covered & I didn't want to drill into the screen but it's a possible option for the future

And a good shout about the tank, at least it wouldn't need to be replaced every few years like the bladder so I have been thinking about going that way

Cheers

There are also snap vents if the holes are the right size. Open, close and swivel, they clip into the hole

Perhaps an alternative is to fix in bespoke disks flush with the glass.
Then cover all 5 with a decal to tie in with the ones you're having made up.
Probably not ideal if it goes against the overall look though.

A few more jobs completed -

Rear plexi window removed and various holes covered up to prevent water ingress and reduce some road noise (!). Window then re-seated onto neoprene seal

69811

69812

New 6 point Sparco harness fitted to driver's seat

69814

69815

Further holes in area behind front seat covered

69816

Driver's harness moved across to the passenger side

69817

Passenger seat fitted

69818

Faulty dashboard clock removed. All fixings for dash trim and clock are secured with nuts from behind the single piece carbon fibre dashboard section. No doubt, everything was fitted prior to the dashboard being installed, so this job required some gymnastic moves on my part to get behind the dash - if only I had done this job before I fitted the seat ...

69819

69820

New clock fitted & dashboard trim reinstated, I do like things to work properly!

69821

A passenger windscreen washer jet has now been fitted, there was only a driver's side one installed previously to get through the MOT. A simple cut into the existing hose, branching off with a T piece, and a new section of hose running into an additional washer jet nozzle. Sorry, no photos for this job.

Lots more to do but it's taking shape nicely & looking forward to driving it more than the 5 or 6 miles I managed before lockdown

That looks amazing Stuart, what a fabulous project.

You may know this already but the MC Trofeo first raced in 2009 in GT4 spec. I know this because we were competing in the FIA European GT4 Championship that year and we raced against one at several of the rounds.

Was someone after the connector type on the clock the other day? Maybe a bit late to look now as the clock & dash are back in - but there should be a part number on the clock loom connector. Would be a useful reference - if still needed? Don't like to criticise either but not liking the look of the hot glue & cable tie strap. Who bodged that together? Hopefully, not a permanent "fix".

Thanks. And yes, I saw some photos of the early GT4 cars before they got all of the aero added, the lines looked very clean

What were you racing at the time?

Yes, I am in touch with Craig about the clock already so hopefully that will get sorted out.
As for the bodge you spotted, there will be plenty more quick fixes for you to spot in later photos. Whatever it takes to get a racing car fixed in double quick time and back out on the track. Cable ties appear in places you would never expect but it's all part of owning a race car that seen a life. It's covered just under 18K kilometres with only around 20 of those being on roads

No problem with a quick fix - but in that instance hot glue is not a particularly clever idea.
With the vibrations you'll be getting on track it is liable to "crack" away from the surfaces.
If the glue was needed in the first place something with better adhesion would be better.
As before, just an observation and not criticism.

The 'sister car' to mine from Ebor GT. It had a couple of good years in the GT series here. Thanks for posting

No problem!
This chassis ECU is in a vulnerable position and has probably been trodden on a number of time which is why the multiplug has cracked but it works fine and now that I have fitted the passenger seat, it's out of harm's way

My clock has gone bad too, its working on italian time now, so every minute takes 2 on the clock :p It is really annoying and you dont realise how ofter you actually look at it untill it goes bad. But when i looked on eurospares and its like 230 pounds for just the clock, I decided I might wait. Should be a good christmas gift :)

Once I receive the clock from @StuartW and identify the connectors used I am going to try a few things to bring it back to full functionality. If successful I will post my findings here.

If anyone else’s clock is dead, erratic or has any other fault please let me know. I was under the impression that it was a fairly common problem.

Yes, mine ran slow as well and I have heard of this issue before, I didn't see the point in buying a used one in case I ran into the same problem. I managed to find an un-used, new old stock for a very good price and so far, so good
