Yep around £750.
Personally I have used and will use main dealer rather than save £100 on an indie. Come time to sell her a MD history will be more attractive to private punter and more attractive to AM dealer if you are trading in.
I cannot fault the service I have had with mine. Generally the tales I have heard from various parts of the UK is service from MD is first class.
I care little for the cost, I care about how much they care for the car.

That's a familiar looking car, Andy! You're clearly a man of sophisticated and refined tastes.

And this is why you need to get shot of those secondary cats:

I have been thinking of changing my GranTurismo but still need 3 seats. Been looking at Astons. I had looked at the DB9 back in the day and was unimpressed with rear seat space. Firstly I was surprised at the fact that the DB11 was little better which is a shame as it is a stunning car.

Next looked at the Rapide S. There is a lot about it which is very compelling but the rear seat space was less than I expected albeit acceptable, mind it was a shame that how big the car needed to be to offer this. They depreciate like mad from the off and get from c£160k to sub £100k retail pretty much straight away. Anyway, I was looking at a £90k retail car and thought I would do a WBAC to get a bail out........£60k! Obviously this is light on real trade but nevertheless walking into a c£25k hit from the off is a lot to take.

PS Since sat in the back off my GranTurismo and think the Maser has more room.

one way to scratch the V12 itch :) Not much else modern to tempt me, be keen to hear how it goes.
Still little better sounding engine than our Trident tested v8 in normally aspirated format.
And if you need more than 2 seats, what else is on offer?

So the dealers leave from for improvement? shop with your feet.
New cars from Maserati? shame they seem to have dropped out.

I was considering the vantage v12 but heard the gearbox (auto) is a big let down ( worse than the F1 ), is this true ?

The non-manual gearbox is a very similar automated manual, transaxle mounted affair, in this case made by Italian company Graziano. As I understand it, previous versions of the Sportshift 'box were a bit dim-witted. My car has the latest Sportshift III version, which is every bit as good as the MC box in my old GTS. In that car I had the TCU flashed with Ferrari 599 GTO software, so it was a big improvement over the standard shift-speeds.

Whilst the Aston box isn't quite as fast as GTO-territory, it certainly holds its own perfectly well. It's smooth, engaging, and downshifts are incredibly fast. You can downshift multiple cogs at a time, or it will do that for you if you're hard 0n* the brakes and hold the paddle. I read that auto mode was bloody awful. It's fine, but I don't use it anyway. I actually think auto mode in the Vantage is better than auto mode in the GTS, but neither is anything to write home about.

Keep in mind that the much-vaunted Vantage GT12 had exactly the same gearbox (well, some ratios were changed, but that's it). Also, remember that the last old-model manual Vantage used the same box just with a manual lever added. Whilst purists love having a stick to play with, it's apparently a bit of a pain in the ar5e. I consciously decided to avoid the manual because I wanted to enjoy driving and not get the hump with a gear selection mechanism with too much personality.

My suggestion would be to try one and decide for yourself.

edit - ******* is a bad word.

Thanks a lot for the detailed response !
Well worth the read . I’m curious how were you able to flash the GTS with 599 software ? I’m not in UK but would be interested to know what options would be available .

There is one auto Vantage V12 in a different city which I might go and check out . Would be a good way to compare the cars and their characteristics

You need someone with an SDX system (about $25-30k, from memory, plus annual license) and the GTO firmware. Maserati will tell you it's impossible and Ferrari won't do it, so a good indie is needed.

I just noticed the story on Pistonheads about how cheap the V12 Vantage is becoming. A lovely 30k mile example at McGurk for £57k. That’s about the same as a similar mileage 2 seat Strad. Not that I would swap, but it makes an interesting option.

Indeed, now is a good time to buy many an exotic that may have appeared to be out of reach a couple of years ago but there is more depreciation to come I believe

Yes, they had two....One with the Catbon seats at 58k and the one at 57k. So much V12 for the money. Most are still over 60k...

You aren't the only one to notice that car Ewan....
