Granturismo Stradale 2018. Seriously looking to purchase. But what to look out for

Coming from an Aston db9 this would be my first Maserati. Spending as much time as I reasonably can researching and probably going to get a pre purchase inspection. Who’s good to approach re inspection near Nottinghamshire and perhaps more importantly what should I specifically ask them to check. Thx in advance

Graypaul in Nottingham are best for you for a ppi, or Shiltech Loughborough. I doubt you’ll find a 2018 Stradale, most likely to find an incorrectly advertised facelift Granturismo MC. If it has a gear lever, it’s not a Stradale.

Why is that....seems to be quite eminent, and at car dealers too.....

Is these such a thing as a 2018 strad? I thought everything from 18 onward was the MC model of the facelift GT and comes with strad exhaust, wings and c/f bonnet, but not strad suspension, brakes or gbox?

It’s not typically mis-selling with these cars as Maserati struggled to sort out the naming through the GranTurismo’s run, however, the Stradale is the easiest one not to mis-sell.

If you like it then buy it - it looks stunning - but only if you want the ZF Auo gearbox. If you want the automated clutch manual then you want a proper Stradale - easy to spot with no gearstick, only buttons.

Yes but it’s priced for a Stradale yet it’s not a Stradale. So why would I want to pay that price. When the price reflects what it actually is then yes I’ll probably buy it

It’s not overpriced because they think it’s a genuine Stradale, it’s just overpriced. It is the MC version, which was about £10k more than the sport on the MY17 cars

No idea about price. Given I bought a new one a decade ago for less than £10k more I don’t get any of these prices but they don’t make them anymore!

What’s the book price difference between a same age MC Sport and Stradale?

FWIW this final run top of the range version is Maserati finally listening and bringing the top end North American spec to Europe. Great looking car.

Which gearbox do you want as that rules it in or out before you get onto price?

Which also answers your question as to the biggest difference OP

Others for sale are priced significantly lower so unless they re price to reflect the actual car it is I won’t be purchasing. Hey Ho

Decision time. With the newer MC you get the warranty and peace of mind but you‘d be missing out on the whole Stradale experience, you can also expect far more depreciation and that inevitable nagging feeling that ‘I should have bought the real thing’………
I’d wait for the right 4 or 5 year old mint low mileage Stradale in your preferred spec and colour but these are getting hard to find now. Whilst that could take some time, you won’t regret it.

Noted but if truth be told I have no idea what the ‘Stradale experience’ is ie I have no idea what I’d be missing out on over the MC. Can you clarify please

I would say it’s a bit like having a kit / replica car vs the real McCoy.... yes the former car would be fantastic, lovely and all that - but you just can’t beat the genuine article. Gearbox and suspension/handling would be the biggest but subtle differences.

Not sure if you get the special ‘Race’ button experience either but may be wrong if the MC has one too?
