Ideally looking up to 20k so would rule out a 4.7 auto I'm guessing (though who knows in this market) - after an honest tidy example. Bose would be nice. Thank you

Only 4.7 under 20K at the minute.

See a couple of 4.7's under 25k and one at 22...Bound to be wriggle room in these prices in current market. Can't believe how many 4.2''s are for sale under or at 20k......

Do 4.7's also have variatior issues or are they generally more reliable? The 4.7 I had for a weekend last year felt pretty solid.

Yes they do, there is a cut off based on the engine number after which they were fitted with modified components to clear up the issue. I can't recall the magic engine number that you should shoot for but can use the search function on here to find it

Bite the bullet and get 4 doors if you want a 4.7 at silly prices. You won't regret it.

you know I might buy up a shed load of QP's 4.2's, 4.7's, DS's and autos, 100k for ten or so, store them, in 5 years they may well be worth over a million, and I'm not even joking cos I've seen 1983 Toyota Celicas at 23k I kid you not.

I watched Ferrari 400/412's drop to 2.5k, and now they're 80-100k.

I know they are great cars but I dont feel the styling has aged well compared to the Granturismo

At least I will know where to come for spare parts. :D

I've looked at several, quite a disappointment really as there are huge gaps in histories. I dont get it, I service my local station car religiously and maintain it properly but many people seem not to do that with Maseratis..??? For the cost of some oil and a few hours labour why not do it regularly. Frustrated...

Yep, they look and sound fantastic and as such attract a lot of 'champagne taste - lemonade budget' types.

If you think the GTs with their two year intervals suffer you should see some if the books of many used 3200/4200 who require an annual service!!! Sometimes with four or five missed years.

I believe two years is too long for any car not to be looked over by someone who knows something about parts... no wonder rust and knackered bearings and suspension items is so prevalent.
