Grigio lava matte

Dear all,
I’ve been offered a 2019 GT MC with the Grigio lava matte finish.
Is this finish difficult to maintain or do I simply need to use different products to wash it etc.
How does it react to bird poo or is it more susceptible to scratches?
Feedback greatly appreciated

From what I have heard about these matt finishes, they are easy. You just wash it, no polishing or it become shiny.

I imagine it’s still paint, so bird poo will need cleaning off and scratches can happen. I expect that it would be hard to do a localised repair so if scratches need sorting panels will need painting.

Grigio lava wasn’t offered as a matte finish, so it’s likely matte PPF.

Btw matte paint is the worst to keep looking nice because you can’t polish out scratches. Only way to repair scratches is to re-paint that part of the car. If you want the matte look, then get a matte PPF wrap so you can easily “repair” any damage.

I believe it was offered. I have the Matt paint brochure from Maserati and three colours were offered….Blue, white and the grigio lava grey. They weren’t cheap either….10k option springs to mind.

This is what my detailer has told me. It was a factory option but only ever seen one example myself.

I had a KTM with part matte paint, it was a right pain to keep clean even after two or 3 washes you could still see dirt streaking the only thing that worked was a fine brush. It was orange so maybe more of a problem than grey but I wouldn’t have a matte car.

I'm just not a fan of matt paint finishes and the more expensive the car the worse they look IMO

Frank has a matt finish on his Z4. It looks good. Actually more satin that matt. He reckons it's a breeze to wash, no polishing, waxes etc required, but also said that any scratches would not be an easy repair.

BMW Matt was not bad…As you say more satin than matt. Frozen silver was rather nice. A friend had it on his M3…Nice but a pain if you got it scratched…

Saw one at the factory whilst Zep was looking in cupboards for the MC20,

It had a gloss carbon bonnet and oh my god, it was stunning. It was RHD too and I was not aloud to take a pic inside the factory.

Buy it!

On a visit to Aston Martin a couple of years ago I was told matt paint is a nightmare if bodywork has to be repaired.

Thank you all for your feedback.
I think this finish will just be too difficult to maintain as I’m the type of person that hates to see hairline scratches on the car!
The search continues to find a late MC

I'm the opposite, my Brera is almost matt silver now
