GT 4.2 vs 4.7

I agree on the exhaust aspect - the 4.2 wasn't quite loud enough hence why I have a Larini exhaust (which was not too unreasonably expensive). Regarding the gearbox - having nearly bought an E60 M6 with the SMG I just wasn't a fan - my wife's DSG TT is great - prior to my GT I've only ever had manuals as I hated old, underpowered hire car automatics! I'm pleasantly surprised by the 4.2 Auto and find it pretty quick to change when using the paddles. I personally love it when it kicks down a cog on the motorway as 3-5k rpm is just such a sweet spot for the noise :)
Is the 4.7 a better car - am sure it probably is. Like the Stradale is better again.
Is the 4.2 an absolute joy to own and drive - absolutely and I have no desire to upgrade (or cash for that matter!). Very happy with my purchase and for the UK roads it's just perfect...

Some great posts on here. And is really useful.

I've deduced the following.

The 4.2 is awesome looking (as all GT's are), but you need/want Larini's, and ideally bigger brakes.
The 4.7 is an improvement on the 4.2, as it is an upgrade (effectively).

As for the price differential, if you can afford it, go for the full fat version, if not, you're not going to be disappointed with the 4.2.
In real world driving they both hit the spot.

Basically, find one you like the look of, at the price point you feel comfortable with, and you'll have a great car.

I've seen a few 4.2's which are right in my budget estimations (for a couple of months time, as long as I don't have to make another investment into my company) which tick all of my boxes.
My thought process was a 4.7. But if the funds don't stretch that far a GS. But I keep seeing 4.2's for right in my budget that I think look lovely. Hence the question.

The following being prime examples.

I think the last being my favourite.

I like the first one best, maybe change the wheel colour? (Piano black is cool too)
Oh no not that thread again.
Was not sure of the red interior on your choice mate but hey its all down to preferential choice
Seriously I think I would prefer one of these to a GS
And It would not bother me that it was not a 4.7
Hope you can get one, keep us posted

Dog knob red interior! You see I actually prefer the silver interior on the autofficina car to any of the reds.

My Alfa GT work horse is black with red interior. So I guess that's why I like it.....

My problem is I'm too indecisive. Well, I used to be, but now I'm not so sure.....

I have to agree. I don't get red interiors, but each to their own.

I had the same problem when I was looking for one. I just didn't want a red interior but anything else is rocking horse poo. Finally saw mine with the black interior and piano black inserts which fitted the bill entirely. Bought it in a week!

I did the same & I love the piano black - for me, I prefer it to the carbon but again - each to their own

I think you and I are going through similar indecision regarding budget and cars - I keep thinking can I stretch to a GT.
Anyway - for me it would be the first one, I am too quiet for that bright an interior - all though I suppose it has the advantage of less miles and Larini's over the first one.
