The utterly tasteless plate is now on a Vantage so can't even check the MOT history - does your mate have the VRN now on the car?

I thought that plate was awful to, they just gave me this registration plate AD57UOR, which must be the original one. I also asked my friend if they can obtain any service history so to see if there is an indie we recognise.

Not been serviced for 5 years! (Albeit that it has only covered a few thousand miles since then).

MOT history doesn't exactly shout pampered / owned by an enthusiast!

Ah, so when I asked my friend to send over the service records that explains why they could not get them. Thanks, so its not looking good, most enthusiasts will service more regularly I'm sure.

The service book (in advert) is stamped by an MD up to 2015 by the looks of things so not all bad

Ok, so really need to check when the last major service was completed and any other maintenance. I'll try to call them later and have a chat about the engine number etc as I'm sure this year may have had the variator issue. Thanks for your help.

One key, that would annoy me. Replacements are expensive. As others mentioned, 5 years since serviced so needs one now. Exhaust looks odd, maybe aftermarket. It looks to be a decent condition car but photos can lie !!

But more importantly, it's too much money for a 4.2. It's creeping into 4.7 territory and I know which I'd have.

So I’ve called the dealer on behalf of my friend. and was able to find out the supplying dealer as the car was taken in part exchange. The original owner had many cars and this was hardly used in recent years hence the lack of service and mileage.
My friend has been smitten by this GT. So I’ve advised her to only buy if it is serviced by one of our usual indies and they do a health check at the same time.
The garage admits it needs a service hence my advice to get it included in the price and then it’s done properly.
I’m amazed how little you can purchase either of GTs for these days.

As far as I know they can't even do the old 'trade sale' trick if selling to a member of the general public, always makes me laugh when buying a car and the dealer says '3 months guarantee' they just hope that the general public are not aware of the law, which the vast majority aren't, I have used the law successfully myself when the other half bought a cheapo from a dealer which had loads of problems which weren't discovered till about 5 months after purchase, he tried to fob me off with the old 'we only guarantee for 3 months' routine, when I asked him if he was aware of the consumer protection act he suddenly changed his tune to 'what would you like me to do then', full refund please of which he happily obliged.

Dealer wants £99 admin fee. Does anyone really pay an admin fee?

Utter joke this trend by some dealers to charge an admin fee. What for exactly ?

It appears to be nothing more than a fee for doing the things that they would have to do to sell a car.

Whats next a trade in fee ?

Can you imagine taking your car for a service and being presented with the bill plus an admin fee.

Its a shame trading standards are not more proactive when adverts from dealers trying to deflect from providing the basic purchase product protection that is provided in law.

Perhaps that way the practice of no warranty sales would be put to bed.

There is a difference between your statutory rights and a warranty .... and a number of dealers do (and are entitled to) sell cars without a warranty.

Statutory rights are about the vehicle being faulty or not roadworthy. A warranty is about covering you if something goes wrong / breaks.
