I'd bung a Renault one in, but as we know, the eeprom boot is different for each vehicle make.

EEPROM not removable I guess?

Oh, i left the cover on not wishes to disturb anything and wasn't intuitive how yhe intermediate tray came off.
Symptoms as commented suspected that on board flash eeprom becoming corrupt so might be on the way out.
But as you say might delve into the board but I'll wait until we have a spare until as backup

Fault isolated and diagnosed. Fix to be tested in the next week or so. Post when confirmed
