That is an aftermarket x pipe.MOT today so first time I have seen under the car.
I'm not sure the exhaust is standard...and may be why it is embarrassing loud in sports!
Time to put it back in storage then? That explains a lot!!!
Valves nice an free... and will stay closed more of the time now... dogs, sheep and horse have all fled the area on start up!
Sadly no 'quiet start' mode to keep the sleepy hollow placated.
Let them get used to it by driving it more often! That explains a lot!!!

Spot on. I concur. The cold start is a matter of seconds too. With a cold engine, start up with a OE centre pipe is still loud. I don't think the X pipe is massively loud when the car is being driven conservatively, it's only noisy when pushing on.
I'm gonna go against the grain here, and say on a pre-facelift MC-shift I reckon a good 20-25% quieter with the OEM muffled x-pipe in.How much quieter will it be if reversed and does anyone have the standard parts?
