If one removes the beer goggles…what are these actually like? Are they any good to drive or are they underwhelming?

Always though the Cup was never worth the extra as I believe it’s just a body kit and some different alloys on the outside. A standard car that has been well looked after is as good. Plus you can get a standard car without the ugly rear spoiler spoiling the perfect Pininfarina lines as well.

This does look stunning probably one of the best you will find but...

The GTV suits the V6 much more than is does the Spider and they drive quite nicely although I have always thought them twitchy on the limit which in a V6 is more worrying as you are going faster when you find the limit. Like Andy I'm not a fan of the Cup styling and certainly wouldn't pay a premium for it especially as you could get one of the even rarer 3.2 facelift versions for less money which I think is a better engine than the 3.0 24V which I always found to lack low dow grunt where as the 3.2 has that bit extra.

Get Matt to sell you his 3.2 if you want one

I feel like the cup version is the best looking one. Its especially nice with the 156 GTA teledials. From what I’ve heard they need a few mods to become really sorted mainly an LSD and uprated suspension. There’s also different manifold designs that are less restrictive and some exhaust work to bring out the V6 sound.

Never actually driven a Cup before are they actually any different?
From what I remember its just an appearance package to tie in with their single model race program.

It's just a designer frock, which I don't think improves anything as the original GTV is just a nice shape that seems be getting better with age

It is just cosmetic but they are numbered which makes them more collectable. Generally, the GTV Cups are much better looked after than the "normal" ones.

I got mine this summer, I couldn't stretch to a fully sorted one, but managed to find a 1 owner car that just needs a bit of TLC. It's mechanically sound, interior is in great condition now I've replaced a few trim bits and ultimately will get a full body respray due to most panels being a slightly different shade of pink...
A Cup is a heart over head decision, people who buy them specifically want a Cup and tend to keep them. But if you don't want Rosso, or the black half leather or the bodykit then buy a Lusso for half the price... They are all fantastic cars and turn heads. Italicar had a black Lusso with dark red leather interior in for work when mine was being serviced and checked over, and it looked amazing in that combo.

They look tiny compared to modern cars but I'm just over 6 foot and the driving position is fine.

Here's mine being collected...
95835

And back home with it's stable mate...
95836

Neither car can be considered a sane choice but I'm pleased I own both of them!

I’ve never had an Alfa. But quite fancy one of these. And I already have a spare number plate (P88 CUP)!

Good choice! I just looked at the MOT history and that is a leggy one but definitely worth exterior/mechanical restoration.
