Planning on making it to the September meeting here. Will be down in Somerset for the week so it would be a shame not to head there. Probably won't get there until between 10:30 - 11:00 though.

I think Dem is planning on doing this in Sept 18 instead of Ace...which numbers have dropped off over the past couple of years. We will still do Ace but less so going forward.

The Haynes Breakfast club in Sep 18 will be on the 2nd.

We are planning on being there as we’re down that way and it’s a good excuse for an early morning drive.

Ah looks like I am too late to the Party, so the Haynes Breakfast club is not on the 18th but on the 2nd?

Sorry can't do that as it conflicts with the Bridgnorth Event for which I am already committed to.

Real shame that as was so looking forward and had booked time in my diary.

Is that it for events this year now?

I like the Ace Cafe but a round tip of 250 miles to the same place has got a little repetitive and is just on the borders of how far to travel for a very nice meal at the Orchard, but lousy coffee at the Ace.

I don't mind trying to organise one up here but would people be willing to travel to say the National Motor Museum or similar?

Think he meant Sept 2018, not the 18th, no date confirmed yet as far as I know.

Thanks James, Only just seen your reply, and as I posted further it conflicts with the Bridgnorth event so can't do it.

I'm still planning on being at this on Sunday morning, though it does seem that there are a number of competing events.

Hi Jkulin,

A couple of years back Beaulieu (National Motor Museum) organised an event called 'Simply Italian' which, (as I'm sure you can deduce...) was a celebration of Italian cars.
It ran for a couple of years but unfortunately it was 'taken over' by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club to become 'Simply Alfa Romeo' - it ran for just one year - AROC didn't seem willing to organise it again so the event(s), Simply AR/Simply Italian 'died'. A pity - because as an all Italian marques event was very successful.

If you fancied organising a 'Simply Italian' event for next year, I'm sure you could approach Beaulieu. The 'advantage' is that the event would practically organise itself ..... your role would be just to initiate it and then promote it.
Beaulieu provide the location / facilities collect the entrance fees etc all you would have to do is publicise the event - through Sports-Italia and (I suggest) other forums eg PistonHeads/FIAT Forum/ Maserati OC etc etc

My advice is make it as all inclusive as possible (Italian bikes as well?) in order to 'keep the numbers up'. And (if you wanted to promote it) -
I'd try & get some 'interest' before approaching Beaulieu with an outline plan. Do explainto them the reasons for the 'failure' of Simply Italian (explained above) and draw their attention to other successful 'Italian' car events in their region. eg
http://www.italianautomotoclub.co.uk/events_Quay_2013.html
I was the initiator of the Q4MC 'Italian Stallions' in Poole and it's now ran over 5 years (although cancelled due to weather twice!) - this year it attracted a Ferrari F40 and no fewer than 6 Lambos..... so there is a fair bit of interest for Italian car owners in the general geographical area.

Have a look at the Beaulieu website, for example https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/simply-smart/

Tickets are £10 per Adult, £5 per child (if in qualifying car) which is brilliant value for money (normal visitors pay £19.50 / £9.50) because it includes entrance to all the Beaulieu attractions (Museum / Top Gear/ House / Gardens / Secret Army etc etc).

MrMickS: I'm possibly going to Beaulieu for the autojumble but might attend Haynes on Sunday.

Thanks, but as I am up in the Midlands I was rather hoping to see if we could organise an event up here, during the summer I'm very much tied up promoting my business at many different shows up and down the country, but early spring/late autumn we could organise something if anyone was interested.

Ahhh, I think there was some confusion. When you said National Motor Museum I took that to be Beaulieu. I presume you actually meant the British Motor Museum located in Gaydon. ie https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/ not https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/

Like Beaulieu, Gaydon do hold events and I'm sure if you were to approach them they would oblige, providing that you could provide 'evidence' that you could get the sort of numbers they need.
Indeed back in 2016 MITCAR was held there https://www.aroc-uk.com/eastmids/mitcar2016rep.html
(MITCAR is always held in a different location each year, so won't be back at Gaydon)

Out of interest what is your business? Are you in a position to actually sponsor an event (indeed are you in communication with other businesses who might combine sponsorship). If you could provide Gaydon with a plan for sponsorship/promotion that would help.

Am off to Haynes soon. Looks like it's going to be a nice day.

Sorry for the late reply David, been snowed under and not in the best of health.

I'm a freight forwarder and ship vehicles all around the world, I already sponsor 6 clubs, so really not looking for any more.

Thanks for your thoughts though.
