Hi
Had trouble getting into car, so rep;aced batteries inside the key (it was getting lazy anyway).
Same fault - discovered main car battery flat. removed, fully charged and re-fitted.

Now can access the car, but won't start and the "code symbol" is lit. Seems I need to run the emergency start procedure, using the Code card. I've never seen one so guess it was never passed on by the original owner.

Can I start it any other way?
Will a dealer supply a replica card?

Not sure why a flat battery would cause this, but..

I guess a dealer can supply a replica card, at least I hope they can, for your sake.

Doh! Started first time on the red key.

Seems the normal black key just died, anyone else had this? It's inly an RFID chip, so should be a totally passive item like an oyser card. Started process to get new key and card.

Rob, if its died, might be worth opening her up and doing some solder work, keys take a lot of abuse and probably a bad connection or dry joint.

Good idea Matt - when i opened it up to replace batteries it just fell apart. In fact the circuit board fell out onto the floor, along with bits of broken plastic and black plastic 'dust', so it's had a hard life. Hope to fix it but need a spare anyway.

Hi Rob,

I'm sure you know this....... but the RFID tag that supplies the code to the immobiliser is encapsulated in a small piece of black plastic inside the key. This has been known to come loose and when you change the battery can look like a piece of broken casing. I wonder if that's what has happened to your key?

Hope this helps,

Steve
