Second night in a row, alarm is sounding both nights at 11.30pm for no reason. After last nights episode, I left the car unlocked (in a locked garage) but it still went off at 11.30pm. Why would the alarm activate when the doors are not locked. I'm not going to be very popular with the neighbours as the garage makes it sound louder! Any help or advice most welcome

Low battery, be aware there are other batteries involved that are parasitic on the main one. The Nav-Trac for example, if the car is 20 odd years old and it has never been replaced, I'd be looking there for starters, there may well be another small battery in the alarm (I don't know if there is).

Thanks, I guess it is a low battery somewhere, as a false alarm from a sensor wouldn't go off with the car unlocked. It is a 2010 model.

Yes there is. A replacement from abacus alarms for the 4200 /GS is around £50 for the whole siren/ battery unit.

If its a GS/4200 car. Short term measure lock the doors with the key and then open the boot with the key and isolate the battery and close the boot. Alarm will be off but car will be locked.

Open the boot with the key and switch the battery back on to use the car again.

If you follow the above and the alarm still goes off then its likely to be your alarm sounder. Its located behind the side panel passenger side rear on the 4200/GS.

Sorry, I should have said it is a 2010 grancabrio. It may work on the same principle though. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I had the same problem and Akdis fixed it by cleaning the terminals in the alarm sounder. That was on advice from Maserati as diagnosis was it needed a new sounder
