Ah, OK....maybe not as close as I thought then. Zep is your way I think and Scaf Berko way.

I used to use McGrath and had no problems with them. Paul was very good with my car. Just one year they messed me around and I've never been back since. Been to see Aldous @ AV every year since.

You driven a 3200? Very different drive and ownership proposition to a 4200.
Only driven a 4200 so far and understand the 3200 is a bit rawer. We have a large Italian community in Bedford that loves their cars have you heard of https://www.autosportivoltd.co.uk/ ?

Yes 3200 is a bit rawer and as a non turbo fan it was never on my list. Was only ever going to be facelift 4200 for me but we are all different of course.

The facelift 4200 to me seemed the most sensible less likely wallet bashing option and has proven to be the case in my 4 or 5 years of ownership.

Not come across that group so will take a look

That's exactly the advice I have been given elswhere so looking at this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234174520574?hash=item3685e39cfe:g:sokAAOSwtNxhHL5~ . Vendor says full-service history and new (ish) clutch. Horrid photo though.

I’m in the facelift camp too....
Those Gransport rims are 19” ( standard 4200 are 18”) On British roads and Skyhook...it’s not an upgrade in my book....
The plastic grille isn’t a facelift victory either but it’s easily changed....

The truth about that though is that cars with little use really don’t benefit from such strict adherence to the book...and with resale values what they are, it can’t make any real world fiscal sense....
McGrath have schedule tailored to cars that see little use (4209\GS that I know of) and to my mind, it’s foolishness to ignore the pragmatic good sense that it represents....
My own car has had very little use over the last 4 years, but still been serviced each year... its c£450 at Sports Italia; If that's too rich then I believe a Maserati is the wrong car brand.

Even with such sparing use issues are found each time it goes in, but those issues would become major problems if left for 2 years plus... thats probably why so many GTs are rusting away because of the long service intervals.

At that price, I’d say you must be cutting corners...!
( joke;) )

Being of a certain age I do like a bit of chrome? Can that be done?

You're similar to me Peter. I do the same with Aldous and it gets an annual inspection each year. The brake and engine fluids are changed bi-annually on rotation and any minor jobs are done before they become an issue. Most of my spend has been on changes/improvement to be honest though over and above routine fluids. We did the rear track rods last year and I got Aldous to fit the valved Larini's but added remote control. It is secondary decatted as well but gone from too noisy to too quiet now. I think an unsliced xpipe might do the trick so wil be next.

The car is mint as new and never goes wrong. It is on the original clutch at 15k miles. Maybe as a late 2007 might have avoided the bad batch.

I'm glad I paid top money at the time to buy the best as it has paid off. I've had one of the worst 4200's too so seen first hand both ends of the spectrum!

I too prefer later facelift grille too. Mine is chrome surround and black insert which is spot on for me. Again we are all different so keeps it interesting and varied which is great.

The advert in question is inaccurate. It says it has xenons with wash but it has neither. The fact it has a headlamp adjustment knob on the dash and no washer covers proves it. If that part is inaccurate, there could be other little ‘land mines’ lurking.

I like them, but they are a bit thick. I am told Naughty Pizza are quite good, trying them next.
Did I see your car parked on Newham St a couple of weeks ago. If so, you are responsible for my current obsession:)

Hi, does that mean 18" rims are better suited to our pretty average condition roads?

Probably better to let the GS crowd chime in. I know they moan about Skyhook being harsh in sport mode...The smaller rim affords more sidewall height and some added compliance. Tyre choice is significant too though..
Maserati fit GS rims on the last 10 or so cars (4200) to come off the production line so what do I know...
Anything that softens the blow from tyre wall to ball joints to wishbone bushings is probably worth the sacrifice in style. The 19” rims are famously soft too.....
Jus’ sayin’ :)

Totally agree, I preferred the ride in my 2 4200s with 7 spoke 18" wheels... but the GS ones look well cooler.

ES do a replica GS alloy wheel which they claim are much stronger than the original and at £995 +vat for 4 wheels (inc. centre caps) appear to be a bit of a bargain! I do prefer the look of the GS alloys but am happy with the 18" 7 spokes that it came with.
