As you all know I have been enjoying my full sports setup on my GS for a while now...

But spoke with David at Larini a few days back and he informs me they are working on a new manifold for the GS and I assume that means 4200 as well. I don't think they are different.

So Manifold or headers as the USA likes to call them will be coming out soon. !!!

David could and would not commit to any timeline or price at this stage... or power gains or weight saving,,, but who cares,, I'll probabley buy them just to look at....

I also asked about a group buy discount,,, but it was all to soon... if anyone is about to commit to buying a Larini setup you might want to hang on a bit and see....

Great work Al, I'm looking at a couple of Larini pieces so keep us all posted on the group buy.

There is certainly a growing contingent of Oz owners and it's great to see the Maserati marques becoming better known here.

regards,

Neil

Al, what does a Larini system cost? I am assuming you put yours on after you bought the car

Here is a little taster of my car. It had Larini de cats, Larini H mid pipe and Larini valved rear boxes (it was so loud, sounded like a Spitfire so I ended up getting Larini to put in free flow silencers where the secondary cats used to be, much better but still savage:

Here is the same vid but on a separate camera which give a better idea of the noise (without free flow cat silencers)

With the free flow silencers fitted:

REMEMBER, SPORTSMASERATI MEMBERS BUYING AS A GROUP PURCHASE, 3 OR MORE, WILL GET A MASSIVE DISCOUNT.

Al, is there a Lsrini distributor in Oz or do we have to buy and have freighted in?

Cavallino Motorsport in Sydney are the official distributor in OZ.

It would be great to hear other Perth owners wanting components and we might be able to negotiate a better shipping deal across from the east.

The last contact I had with Larini, David quoted £120 for the first item and £60 for each piece after that. Interestingly he advised that I should order through Cavallino but did not quote a different price for a local purchase.

Thanks Neil. we need the Aussie to go to about 1.25 against the buck and 75 p on the quid and then some of this stuff will seem more fairly priced. The freight down here on top of the cost of goods is a killer. Cheers Geoff

Wow! I think law and order will have broken down in the US and the UK before we see those numbers unfortunately. Still, who would ever have thought we'd see parity.

The only problem I have with the Larini stuff is that a lot of time and expense has gone into mirror polishing all the components when all I'm really after are the performance increases and any improvement in exhaust note as a consequence. It would be nice if they offered a second tier range without the polishing and a ceramic coating instead.

There are other manufacturers who have "cheaper" product for our cars - cannot vouch for the sound though

Here is a link who also sell Larini

Don't get me wrong Adam, I don't mind paying where I can justify the expense. Almost $900AUD for a pair od decat pipes... Essentially straightthrough pipes with a couple of fittings for what is $100 worth of SS tubing.

Anyway I'm just venting. This in no way is an opinion on the quality as I'm sure it is exquisite workmanship and the Larini sound really is second to none. I just wish it was a little more realistic in price

I am also talking to a local race exhaust specialist to fabricate a pair of 100 cell cats with a free flow centre resonator. We'll see how the $$ stack up.

Hi Geoff, Neil,

Larini won't deal direct. They will force you to go via their local distribution. It equally won't be any cheaper... Russel Reeves is the guy to speak to at Cavallino's. He is very helpful and knows his stuff, being ex UK with a lot of ferrari maserati experience. Mention my name if you speak with him and he will understand what your after.. In very round numbers its approx Aus 7K for a full system like mine....

We got to 1.21 against the USD in 1981 so anythings possible. Imagine what you can ship in if we get to 70 p....smiles all round. Geoff
