Should have fixed that grill earlier. Stop the bird nesting in there
I lost track of how many pheasants my car's ate whilst I lived in Aberdeenshire.!

I hope the pheasant was not wasted ;)

Seriously though, was there damage to the radiators?

The bird went straight through the grille ! Very impressive. How fast do you have to go to get that effect?
More seriously, what is the grille made of?

The car came complete with bird still slumbering.

Ash went running off round the workshop and his missus had to get it out.

So that day we had:
Robins GT
A bird
And a big girls blouse!
Interesting, that.
Over the years I seem to have been to go-to guy for birds that should not be in someone's lounge (they come down the chimney and find they can't fly properly in the tight space, so end up blinking in the hearth) in the road under someone's tree ( they are newly fledged and fall out of the nest) or someone's office (straight in, through the window.) Same fix for them all. Throw a towel over the bird. It calms it down. It seems they don't worry about things they can't see. Gently pick it up and bundle it off to a more appropriate place.
No blouse necessary.

Another route is to sleep with her;
Sister
Best friend
Mother
Brides maid
Although in this case Matt and Dan were probably your best route (fixing rather than getting 'giggy')

At least the mesh grill behind the plastic louvred grill did it’s job!

I haven’t hit anything yet, but the way grouse just run in front of you and seem to use their wings as a sign they are their rather than a transportation devices, I’m surprised!

When Dan came to pick her up, it was only then that the bird was noticed still lodged inside. How I missed it, must have been post dusk when inspected initially, just enough time to manoeuvre her before all the power steering fluid ran out.

At the Phillip Island circuit in Australia,Cape Barren geese wander onto the track unafraid of the cars, presenting a serious hazard as they weigh at least 5 kg. I witnessed a Sport 2000 car hit a goose at high speed. The bird went through the front of the car smashing a hole in the radiator & exiting in a shower of minced flesh, blood & feathers through the top of the bonnet. The driver's helmet was covered in blood & gore so he was temporarily blinded coming to a halt. The front of the car was seriously damaged and covered in minced goose.

The **** birds are a "protected" species so we are theoretically prevented from deliberately damaging them. I have been forced to take evasive action on a few occasions, which is a bit tricky in a Formula Ford at full chat.

Less than 40mph.
We're used to them, thousands of them here. Although despite reduced shooting, they're less numerous on the roads now, presumably not driven from covy.
On the outward they were all over the road, so I was acutely aware, cautious, alert, more so than the norm to be expected.
On the return..........
This was a section where there aren't usually any. But I was still acutely alert, driving moderately. Corner of the eye, dart from the covered verge. Not a chance for the poor s0d.
Despite the low speed this was a big fat heavy bird..... I only later learned.

Matt very kindly rapidly obtained a complete replacement grille surround etc. They range from about £350 to over £1000 depending on the colour. Apparently original was some special bronze ~£1000 , but as Matt said they all look black. Silly isn't it?

Ironically, on return delivery the aircon compressor clutch failed, and subsequently the filler developed a leak. Completely unrelated, but Ashley and Matt insisted that they have her transported back at their cost.

At the same time, and having become quite fed up with the USB connection to the NIT saga (recall blood on the seat), and knowing how Matt is meticulous, I asked Matt to sort out the wiring. I must praise his temperament, tenacity, and good grace.
It proved quite a nightmare; broken connectors, flaky looms................. This has had several NITs in it, the one replaced was much younger than the car, and this was the last attempt with a 2015 latest variant which needed proxi align. So you can imagine the state of the looms and surround. I'd completely forgotten that the first owner had had an Apple thingy converter box and additional wiring. As soon as that was recalled then job was done.

However, as is his temperament, Mat didn't like the tell tail signs of past removals on the surround, so some judicious steaming and leatherette renovation, good as new.

I'm as always delighted with what Ashley and Matt have done.

I'm pretty confident that now, after last year's very major works performed by SportItalia, (happy to share what) The gal is sorted to a condition that I'm proud and confident.

So thank you SportsItalia, thank goodness that you're around. Not just the cost effectiveness , but the attention to detail, fairness and someone who I can trust to identify and do what is needed.

Oh, if anyone wants a NIT, I've a spare one, and loads of internal disks too.

I am certainly not going to admit any of the above, Peter, norty boy, but I'm sticking to my current third wife.

No chance. In today’s house prices I’ve given away over £1m in houses to expensive birds. Patois for sure. I wish!!
