I may have a problem with my GTS?

Haven't driven the GTS since last Sunday, been driving other cars all week. When I got in and started it today, the brake pedal felt soft. At first I thought it might be just me having been driving other cars all week. But I don't think so.

I can make the pedal firm by pumping it hard, but if I keep the pressure on the medal it slowly goes more or less to the floor. Also, there seems to be a quite loud "hissing" noise from the pedal area, like air escaping when I pump them. It may have been there before, but it seems a lot louder than I ever remember. My first thought was servo failure.

I spoke to Graypaul and they said call Maserati assistance and get the car removed to them. But I thought I would post here before doing so to check that what I just experienced isn't normal, and that I am not going mad.

Unconnected I am sure, but the indicator sound also seems to have gone very quiet.........

Would welcome any thoughts before I make that call.

The brake pedal is hard with the engine off, and without the loud "hissing" when you pump it, but goes soft with the engine running, and goes slowly but steadily to the floor, with the "hissing" when you pump the pedal.

Thanks guys. Time to call Maserati assistance I think. Look like I might be Maseratiless over Xmas unless Graypaul can work wonders on Monday :(

Sorry to hear your woes Robert. Soft pedal is usually air in the system but a hissing noise is definitely not "normal". Can't be a fluid leak otherwise the pedal wouldn't come back but servo trouble is rare I would have thought. I still think GTS brake feel is rubbish anyway so It'll be interesting what MD comes back with. Keep us posted.

Got the car back yesterday, so we will do the journey to my family in Yorks in it on Christmas Day :)

They thoroughly tested the braking system, everything working as it should, but they found quite a bit of air in the system when they bled it. Apparently, this is not unusual for a GTS....... Pedal certainly feels a lot firmer now and seems to be working as I remember it.

Hum, air does not just magically turn up in the system for no reason.

Glad you got it sorted but I feel this will not be the last we hear of this. The only thing I could imagine that would cause it if there was no issue with the system is if you boiled the brake fluid.

Keep an eye on it and take it easy for the next tank of fuel.

Yes, I'm a little unsettled by it. Have had no heavy braking incidents. Will take it easy......

Did your indicator sound come back? There is a setting for buzzer volume in the SatNav module.
