If I was to sell the GT.....

Well that got your attention :p

Does being enthusiast owned help maintain or add to the value or make it in anyway more desirable?
I've wondered this since the car's recent Autocar feature. If for example, I was to put together a portfolio of pictures of it at the Xmas Ace meet, exhibiting at Auto Italia, at Brize Norton, etc As well as the mag itself and anything else the car gets up to in the mean time - would it make the blindest bit of difference?

No plans to sell any time soon, just idle thoughts.

In my book its a plus......being a member of a club/forum, being prepared to meet up with others, enthuse about the car/marque has to be a plus.

Whether or not it leads to an easier/earlier/better price sale is a moot point........but as sure as Dem is Greek.........it can't be a negative point......:)

I would think it would make it more desirable, but unlikely to have any effect on value at all.

:)

& eggs is eggs; I don't think it would make any monetary gain (as some would quibble it's been raced!) but It would make it easier to sell 'as featured' I'd take note for sure...

I would think photos of you getting it going sideways on a trackday or its know to have been flat out drag racing in a mag feature may actually have the opposite effect. Its a different matter if were concours/modded and was an improvement on how it left the factory. Obviously if it were a lightweight racer that had won all kinds of competions that would make it more valuable, likewise, if you were a movie star or music artist, who died suddenly at a young age then that may also increase the value.

In general terms though, having a folder full of history, photos etc can only be a good thing.

I love ya deaarly but you have more money than sense. Having taken the biggest hit on the car already ya might as well hang on to it. If you kept it another couple of years you would not lose much more and the overall depreciation might then make some sense. If you decide to sell it dont use that video of you racing the Ferrary as part of the portfolio. You need to come across as a serious minded and careful owner as difficult as that maybe :tomato9:

As I say Urby, no plans to sell any time soon.

Points taken as to how to perhaps portray the car's life in my "care", clearly it should not be shown to have been used and abused - which it most certainly is not.
But at the same time would it be detrimental to show a history of a car being enjoyed and maintained (by dealer)?
In other words, would it perhaps be more sensible to change the reg, chuck the Autocar mag away and give it an anonymous history?

But its not as if you did this every weekend.....a one off ...making this GT stand out amongst its peers................wonderful bit of automobilia to go with the car.......semi-immortality......:)

Plus its a very special, up-specced, high performance super car....................................if you wanted something to ponce about in and stupidly pamper........you'd a bought a Ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if & when you come to part with the car what are the chance's that the potential buyers are aware of the autocar piece. is it not a case that when people are in the market for a car the priorities they take into consideration are 1st :- price
2nd :- colour and then they discount the ones without a full service history. the history is your strongest selling asset. if you dont mention the autocar bit chances are they wont know.

If I was buying a used Granturismo I would be looking at the service history and trying to learn something about the previous owner. All the other bits are an irrelevence

Hi Dan, to add my two penneth for what it's worth....

Your car is much more to you than just four wheels stood on your drive. It is a hobby if not a passion and so you think consciously about how it is best treated and looked after. This does make a difference and could be demonstrated to a potential buyer in all sorts of ways, one of which is the AutoCar feature. For me however your participation in the forum is what would make the biggest difference. When it does come to selling, the chances are that your buyer will be a member. We already know your car and can vouch for it. I can't think of a better recommendation. Probably won't affect the value, as this simply comes down to market economics, but I'd bet it would make the sale a much more enjoyable and swift process.

To answer the original question, for me, if it was between your car and another very similar spec/price, the proof you're an enthusiast and the Autocar feauture wouldnt make me buy the car but it would certainly make it stand out and I think I would get som comfort that you'll have cared for it too, probably supported by a well docuemented history.
