that's a fooker, is it SH, will be an interesting conversation in getting your money back

no it’s new. eBay advert said

“BRAND NEW.

Here's a brand new top tint windscreen for your 1968 - 1972 C3 Corvette. This is a collect only I'm afraid from Xxxxxx. After saying that, we do travel a lot so may be able to meet up.”

So I met the guy in Peterborough services. It was dark last night, should have really thought about taking a proper torch and being super meticulous but I trusted what he said.

He’s also saying that because I paid cash and didn’t buy it through eBay I’ve no recourse. I’m actually thinking about getting really arsy and reporting him to eBay, but then I’ll be £350 in the hole for something I can’t use.

He’ll take it back if I drive to Lincolnshire and he was really rude about it too.

Fooker...

You know what will happen under sods law, If you fit a perfect screen, the first time you take it out you will bet a huge stone chip and or crack.

Feel for you there Tim.
I do most things on trust and it hurts when you are bent over.
Karma takes far too long for my liking.

Part of me gets the feeling I’m going drive 4 hours to Lincolnshire to return the screen and he’s going to be really difficult. Am I reading this with the wrong head on?

You could only offer to buy without ebay, it was his decision to sell outside ebay. His photos and descriptions are part of the sales agreement. My opinion, it's all on him.

I doubt you have any recourse unless he's a trader and he gave you a receipt. Having said that, I think you'll get your money back. Fingers crossed

He is a trader and a ‘specialist’ to boot but no I didn’t get a receipt.

I’m just worried from the conversation that after a 5 hour round trip to collect it and then a 9 hour round trip to return it he’s going to refuse to refund and claim l’ve somehow caused the damage.

Definitely a risk :(

i don't trust anyone on ebay, some fooking descriptions you would think stevie wonder wrote, good luck with it, he would have to be a complete w4anker making you drive all that way and not give you your money back or may try not to refund the whole lot possibly, is he bigger than you ;)

Why not get a windscreen replacement via your insurance company and just pay the excess?

I had one fitted on my 1956 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 - took over 4 months to get it specially manufactured by Pilkington and eventually fitted (The first one they made and shipped was the wrong one). Was via Autoglass classic specialists and they sent 2x Master fitters…. It cost nearly £4K for the glass and all the fitting etc. But I only had to pay the excess of £125ish.

Same when I replaced my previous Ferrari Mondial windscreen plus trims… similar overall costs and only excess to pay.91970919719197291973

My insurance although it’s for the road because it’s a race car policy it excludes glass cover.

Love your Rocket 88.
I’d like a 49

Got some different silencer inserts from the States as it was said that they’re acceptably quiet.

Well, they’re not, so that was a waste of money and need to come up with another option

My side pipe headers have glass pack resonators in them not too loud.
Btw, forgot to ask, did you weld in a couple of O2 bungs into the collectors for carb jetting?
