Go find some used slicks to mount first, so you can set up the suspension. New slicks (especially non heat cycled), make it hard to get good tire temps. and you won't wear out new tires.
Got the engine to idle, set the tappets, set the timing with a strobe and adjusted the mixture. Also fixed the running on by adding a diode to the alternator light. The ignition box switches on with the slightest bit of electric so was staying on.
Shiny stuff, arrived

need to pluck up the courage to spend £1500 on tyres
those are gorgeous rims
Clear coat laquer ?Not sure what to do about keeping them clean, I think they’re bare aluminium, so I put a wax polish on? Or will that discolour them.

Regular polishing - they will look better with a bit a age, afterall it’s a race car, not a show carDon’t really want to clear coat them. Race wheels take a beating and they just end up chipped. All the Wolfrace and Revolutions you used to see were uncoated. I’ll try a wax on a non visible bit. It’s not like it’s going to see much winter weather.
I know! I did have to put them on just to see even though I should be sorting the Mini for Donnington at the weekend, going to be interesting as they’ve put us on the same grid as the later touring cars. Wonder how many times Steve Soper in a slick shod M3 will lap me!Mutt's nuts!
Looks great!
Does the exhaust exit being so close to the rear wheels cause any concerns?
