I want to find out about the options for upgrading my stereo in a 4200 Spyder, especially to add iPhone/iPod input.

Any recommendations for ICE dealers in London you have used before who would be able to recommend equipment & do a fitting that's sympathetic to the car - as in I don't want an ugly faceplate replacing the screen, maybe something with the same sized screen that can take both the new system and the current system as inputs. Probably asking a lot!

Cheers.

The neatest is the loudlink module, that plugs into the back of the armrest info centre, to replace the CD changer, if fitted.
They do two versions, one with an SD card and aux-in, so the SD card emulates a CD changer, with one of the "CDs" being the aux-in, ie your iPod.
The second still plugs into the CD changer port, but works via Bluetooth to say an iPhone to play music. This also provides hands free mobile phone calls with a separate microphone.

I can definitely NOT recommend www.autoaudio.uk.com I made a special trip to visit them and after standing ages to be served eventually the receptionist called a technician to talk to me about options for the Quattroporte and I can honestly say I knew more about the subject than he did. He actually tried to tell me an FM transmitter would be my best option. We walked out.

It's a surprisingly difficult service to find in London. I've goggled it backwards and forwards and the choice seems to be between a few places which are accustomed to doing £20,000 installations for oligarchs and gansta boys and Halfords.

There's a big market for it. If you find someone please post the details.

I can recommend a fantastic place in NW London/Herts. Probably the best in the country and used to do all of my car installations before I started building my own systems. Let me know if you need details. They're not cheap by any means, but they are excellent.

The company is called Prestige Audio. They're based in Rickmansworth, Herts. They started out about 25 years ago with in-car audio and have progressed to become one of the country's best home cinema designers and installers - they built mine a few years ago. The website concentrates on home cinema rather than car audio, but it gives you an idea of the quality of their work and their contact details. Let me know how you get on, I can't recommend them highly enough:

+1 for the loudlink though if I was doing it now I'd go for the blutooth option, not a fan of cables all over the cabin!
