Insurance Recommendations?

Well, the day is coming - I get my Gran Turismo on Friday, and I couldn't be more excited!!!

Anyway, I have looked at insurance and the quotes have been surprising reasonable, but can anyone recommend a company that specialises in insuring Maseratis, which I can also try?

(by the way, I am a middle aged man living in Surrey with lots of no claims bonus, not some boy-racer.... ;-) )

Thanks for ANY advice.

Bobby, I got a very good deal with Direct line, not on the comparisons sites......but only got a low mileage limit.

In the past I have got good rates from: AA, SAGA, ONE CALL, AVIVA, they all keep changing rates, so best to check with them all..!!

Funny thing insurance, i have the maser through ferrari owners club (loxtons) as they offer such good cover and a good price, but the fezza under LV as they almost dont charge me, less than £ 200 a year.

A-plan (in this area) have a terrible reputation, the last time i insured through them i ended up at the ombudsman - and won.

Good luck with the new car.

Best Bet is to chack all the comparison sites: moneysupermarket, confused etc, get the best rate you can with the bits you want, then ring the ones that are not on there and see how they compare. You can have exactly the same insurance on different web sites, with a difference of a few hundred, so check them all and save money..!!

I insured with Aviva through A-Plan last year and they were both superb. Hugely impressed. And then the renewal came through. Went back to Admiral at just over half the price of the A-Plan renewal.

I'll give Loxtons a shout next time. Also wondering whether the Maserati owner's club has access to kindly brokers and good deals.

It's funny they all seem to do that, 2nd year they think they can really stiff you and you won't notice, I go shopping every time my insurance is up for renewal, now I know I am being taken for a mug, I have the last laugh..!!

My quote from A Plan was £930. From Aviva was £530 which included the use of a second car whenever I needed to. This means I drive my jalopy (MX5) thru the winter and then bring the Maserati out when the weather is nice! The thing I have been warned about time and time again is to be prepared to accept "Market price" if the car is totalled unless you pay extra to cover for agreed value. Secondly the insurance needs to allow you to take your car anywhere of your choice. Some of the high street companies you insure through charge you a premium to take it anywhere other than their recommended repairer. The saying: DYOR still stands.

I've jut had a quote from Aplan for my GS which includes A1 buisness miles, 7k miles per annum, 30 days European cover, courtesy car, no claims protection all for £548 and for another £50 I can have top up insurance which pays out another 25% of any total loss claim.

Sounded ok to me but what do you guys think?

Admiral just sent me my renewal for the fleet and it's £200 cheaper this year so will stick with them. £420 for the masser this time, £98 cheaper.

My Merc was insured with Privilege before my wife took over the insurance at the weekend as this is now her car. The interesting thing is I asked them to quote for a change to a GT-S so that I could work out whether to cancel or suspend my policy until I get a Maser next year, and they said I'd get a refund! The Merc is worth 14k and is a 3L diesel, compared with 50k 400+hp super coupe. Think thr GT is a low insurance risk as I only paid £350 ish for the Merc.

That sounds like a good deal..!! These insurance companies make no sense at all to me, they always try and stiff you on the 2nd year and you go somewhere else, then if you go back it's reasonable again, crazy..!!
