Way to go Elliot Brilliant and so pleased for common sense to prevail , Lets not be too hasty to diss the insurance company , yes they sold you a comprehensive policy without making it clear that certain items ( usually covered ) in the majority of comprehensive policies were not part of the package , that is not bad practice in itself and up to the individual to check before they buy , they slipped up in their methods of claims process and seem to have rectified it without too much aggrivation , thats pretty cool in my book

A good point Loz. They were dead in the water as soon as they heard the tape of the original phone conversation in which I was instructed to contact their designated windscreen replacement company. Thsi they admitted, apologised for and told me that they would accept liability. I wonder if the telephone operator got into trouble for it?

One can not ask for anything more than that, to be honest.

Though, they're still not on my Xmas list for this year.

Well, I'm hoping that the Quattroporte I'm looking at on Saturday is a good one and that will mean that the 4200 will be up for sale next week . But, yes, I'm going to call Tescos today.

Amazing call with Tescos. I phoned to ask for windscreen cover to be added to my policy. In reply, the operator says that she could not do this. However, and I quote: "Windscreen cover is included in our comprehensive policies"

I hung up.

If their own operators have no clue about this, what chance do punters have?

Quite Bizzare Elliot , do you have any idea who Tesco actually insure you with, im suspecting they are really only an intermediary using there widely recognised name as for extra business, i take it you recorded the conversation Elliot :shh:

Interesting - for many years TESCO have been my broadband provider - with very few if any issues.
6 weeks ago it went off. "Sorry sir, there is a fault" - really you dont say!
1 week later and several calls to somewhere in India - it's still off.
Another week more international calls to well scripted Indian Nationals who have no technical knowledge, are infuratingly polite and fail to do anything a new router arrives - it does not work
More calls and eventualy get through to a nice bloke in the UK (Bolton, I think, but it will do)
Another week more shutting down of services and rebooting systems - all of which take 48 hours each time - nothing

Tesco then proudly annouce "You have been slammed" in other words another ISP provider is using my line - but we dont know who it is and neither do you. Due to Data protection only BT can find out who they are - not BT, BT, but BT Wholesale (WTFAT?) BT Wholesale wont talk to me because I am a private individual and not a business.

TESCO then tell me I have to ring them up and if I dont get any joy complain to OFFCOM who will be able to sort it all out.

Offcom (incidentally very helpful and UK based) take a week to tell me TESCO have tagged the line and cant see it because they have done it!

TESCO of course deny this - I am now in the process of getting a BT Internet, a strong letter to TESCO has been drafted and a phone call made to their CEO who surprisingly spoke to my wife, was very interested and promised to deal with it if I wrote to him.

Morale of both these stories

*TESCO *- STICK * TO SELLING * GROCERIES *

* Insert Anglo Saxon expletives as necessary

I had similar head-banging problems with Tesco Banking. As soon as my term deposit matured I closed the account and have no intention of going near them ever again.

well done for the win.

In my opinion and through experience some insurers are getting trying it on with all claims, including windscreens. Last year my wife was driving past a (ill be PC) static caravan park (ish) and a concrete block was thrown at the car, its broke the windscreen, its a double glazed screen (which saved her life) and they tried to install a standard screen, i sent the fitter back and they tried it again 3 times.

On top of that recently i was told by a broker that i had to use my work address for the insurance (as its higher risk than at home), so £ 500 more. I called the actual insurance company and they had no idea what the broker was on about, so from all sides some of them seem to be on the make.

And to cap it all i had a renewal quote last week for the Fezz and they wanted an enormous amount, much more than normal, one phone call got 35% off, so whats going on there!!!!! Rip off springs to mind

Rant over - feel better now!

All these stories just tell you that you are the target of too many rip off merchants. They are all out there just waiting to grab your cash, so we have to be as smart as them, never make a fast decision and ask for the terms and conditions in plain English before doing anything.
