There is a heck of a range of prices on here. I know it is horses for courses but still we seem to be from a few hundred quid (me) to several thousands

£473 for GTS MC, insured for 8k miles p.a. including commuting, business and protected NCD. I use Money Supermarket and pick from there - the cheapest quote was from 'Quote me happy'.

Playing about with mileage and excess can make a bit of a difference, as can adding a second driver. Another thing is that a car left on a driveway often turns out cheaper than being garaged.

Seems OK.

Feck.

I need to move. Even insuring my wife’s Y reg Ford Focus costs more than that.

Best not to talk about insurance.

Last year my GTS cost me £1435 to insure with a max mileage of 4000 miles.

Do you use your vehicle as a bumper car or are you truly getting more stuffier then me by your insurance company?

£3,700 per year for 13 cars....

Zenith Marque via Pace Ward. 2nd year with Pace Ward recommended by Ewan.

Year 1 was with Hiscox and then the bu**ers on renewal jacked up by £500 so they were able to sort out a better deal than with Hiscox by changing....

I am happy with that. Also fully comp driving any other car up to £150k without needing to tell them....

No not really.

Plus I wasn’t allowed to leave the car on the street overnight. It had to be parked back in the garage when at home.

Just live in a dodgy area I guess.

Cars are broken into daily here and so are houses.

anyone tried RH insurance, got all my motors with them for the last several years and always come up trumps on renewal, tried all the other usual suspects to compare and they don't even come close to RH

Advice please,
Daughter went travelling in September, the insurance ( which I paid , from our account) ran out a week after she left the country, she got an email from them saying she hadn’t renewed and they would cover her for 2 weeks, the email was from a no-reply email address, she obviously wasn’t going to call from Thailand, in the meantime, we had re insured the car.
Tonight she got an email saying the non payment of £89 had been passed to their debt collection department and had to be paid within 5 days.
They cancelled policy after 2 weeks..

Anyone dealt, had this before...

Are you saying the policy was an annual one which fell due for renewal and you were not paying by direct debit.
Insurer took it upon themselves to renew the policy for 14 days without instruction from you and because you didnt reply they are charging a time on risk?
If so, daughter is not liable. Unless you instructed cover they cannot simply decide to renew a policy without instructions. Only point would be if it was set up on direct debit their renewal invitation letter may say the policy will renew unless they are informed otherwise.
Daughter will need to reply to them but raise it as a complaint with the insurer pointing this all out to them. Complaints will get escalated to different department and they will rapidly back down. Put it in writing rather than telephone as you then have a record if it needs to go further.
PM me if you want any more info.

at the risk of sounding dim I'm not totally understating the scenario, are you saying you re-insured the car with another company and the original cover should simply of lapsed?

Wasn’t on direct debit, the policy ended about 7 days after she left, we let it run so she could get her 1 years no claims, we reinsured with another company on renewal date. They sent a quote for renewal and I think that as she hadn’t renewed they said they would automatically cover her for 14 days. We never requested or asked for it. I wondered if it was something they did legally in case you “ forgot” to renew..

Bet it's in the small print (I'm afraid)

Turns out I was dual insured for the last year, but because I took out another policy L+G feels it's clear I *meant* to cancel their policy so each company is expected to give me back 50% of the premium. This made me look a bit closer at my renewals this year and they all have a 'this will renew automatically unless you explicitly tell us to cancel it' bit.
