Is it possible for a workhorse & toy to be the same car?

The Corona Virus pandemic has made us all change the way we do things (particularly as it's not over yet).
Instead of meetings we're having Zoom calls, Skype calls and WhatsApp calls.

Since the end of March my work mileage has been precisely zero. Although that's to be expected with the lockdown.

However, I have a feeling that the amount face to face meetings I have will reduce significantly changing the way we do business going forward, particularly with more people working from home.

With this in mind, I was wondering if there is a car out there (not necessarily a Maserati) that could be both a weekend toy and a workhorse?
Capable of doing 400 miles in a day and not leaving you aching like a mo fo, returning decent MPG, but also gets the pulse racing when you want to take it out for a blatt!

Any ideas?

Does it need to have room for carrying work items/samples that it would require a large boot etc?

Does it need to be practical? 2 or 4 seater? Would a coupe or convertible be ok? Would you want most of its depreciation to be done?

400 miles a day...You would need to pull a petrol tanker around with you....That would cost some pennies in fuel... 400 miles and a QP.....
To be honest missed that bit!

But QP will do an easy 23/24 possibly 27/28 feather foot - always a trade off. My mrs Pug was only 37/38 ragging it on motorway to get some decent impetus so up to you!

Depends on price but M4 / M3 maybe...Latest one as the old V8 wasn't great on fuel....

Haven't they only got 2 seats?

No 4.
Well, the back 2 aren’t adult seats. Fine for a 2.1/2 year old though.

As a side issue to that, have you seen the Harry’s garage review of the new 911 turbo S?
Right at the end, after he’s finished, he puts his grandson in the back, who looks about 2, asks him if he wants to ‘go fast‘ and launches it. Which is insanely fast on the new turbo s. The little chaps reaction is brilliant, it’s the best bit of the review!

Mark being a tall and broad shoulder fella, might not find a Golf GTI seat that comfortable after 400 miles. I've known people to hate quite capable cars simply because of the seat and have bad back becuase of them.
