Is my window regulator about to go bang?

Not what I need a month before the forum Euro beano...

Lowered my front passenger window half way this morning and then it wouldn't rise. Had to open the door and with one hand on each side of the glass help it up while Mrs Eb activated the window switch. Reluctant to try it again..
Trouble is it's on the side for the tolls..... :worried1:

I wonder if you are experiencing the same window movement resistance problems that @Alan Surrey has experienced and repaired. I can’t recall the exact root cause that Alan eventually found and fixed, but I’m sure Alan will be along to share more

Do it now so it is done with plenty of time to spare.

That's pretty much the mo for all cars where the regulator is about to fail.

Exactly the same thing happened on the Jag.

do you lube your window runners/channels annually with WD40 Silicone? Try that first, and watch them glide

Mine was creaking a bit as it neared the top (used very frequently with the spyder as we always have roof down as long as it isn't raining) and then it went with a BIG bang and wouldn't move (fortunately shut) - can't remember exactly what Matt said about it but the metal is shattered. Got a replacement from ES (so have abstained from a few drinks!!) and all sorted now I believe

The hinge in the middle of the X shape frame failed and when the window went up it was parting company with the motors drive gear due to the play.

Steph. I am pretty sure we have one QP passenger side front in stock, it won’t be around long, drive over and I’ll do it while you wait.

You should order a Telepass toll tag for Italy, an EMOVIS tag for Spain and Liber-T tag for France. You won't even have to open the passenger window!
Should arrive in time if you order soonish.
Delivery is pretty quick. I ordered a replacement for mine and it arrived in 2 days. Also saves time at the booths and allows you to overtake Ferraris ;)

They all work in those countries apparently.

So the French emovis don't work in Spain, you need another tag and they don't do Italy anymore. Telepass don't deliver the tag to gb so thats no use either!

For what its worth, my view on window regulators, having just replaced two, is that they wear out and they, or at least the cables, drive capstan, and possibly the plastic components that rise and fall in the metal guides (inspect them to see) need to be replaced.
Go for it Eb !

I ordered my Telepass from Tolltickets. There was no mention of them not delivering to the UK. I got a confirmation email so I'll hope they still send it!

Not something I'm happy to attempt myself as I haven't the first idea how to dismantle car bits.

Will arrange to see Matt in due course I think. Don't want to try it out in case it goes bang and you can bet it'll be chucking it down from now on....

It came up with the countries they deliver to and we are not on it. When I tried to add my location I couldn't.
