It's all coming together...a few upgrades

Time for a few upgrades.

As you know, I've had a few intermittent knock sensor issues over the last few weeks, so as I'm taking it all apart and draining the coolant, it's a good time to build in some reliability. I have a small heap of bits to fit now, so the plan is to start this weekend. My heap comprises of knock sensors, a full set of Roose motorsport silicon coolant hoses, new stainless clips to suit, silicon vacuum hoses, new bolts for the plenum along with all the seals etc, a tub of dielectric grease for all the contacts/plugs/sockets, injector plug rubbers (already fitted) and the correct Paraflu antifreeze. It's also getting a service whilst I'm in there fiddling about.

Hopefully, that little lot will go some way towards preventing a breakdown at some point. I'm in two minds whether to replace the starter or not as I haven't had any issues at all with the one fitted and it spins over like a good 'un. The other thing I'm in two minds about is getting the plenum and coil covers powder coated, or maybe ceramic coated to tidy them up a bit. Question is, what colour? I'm inclined to get as close to the original as possible.

Quite a list there trev, but sensible given the age of these old girls. I agree re keeping original for plenum.....unless you fancy green ;)
Can you send a link for silicone hoses since I'm getting chain done next year and makes sense to get hoses replaced/upgraded at the same time.

I had a set from Roose on my AC, very good quality.
And I agree, I would stick to the original plenum colour - good luck with the jobs

I think so too. Should look nice against the gloss red hoses.....kidding!

On the subject of the plenum, does anyone know the RAL code for the colour?

For the cost of the starter motor (mine was £34 brand new) I would replace it while you are in there.

Whilst the inlet is off and the rubber pipes are being replaced it is a no brainer to get the starter motor replaced.

Get the Inlet manifold, coil pack covers and TB cover stove Enamelled.

Id'e change the starter motor too and while your in there the two Lambda sensors...It's all age related stuff that wasn't designed to last 16 year's!
