Just broken the case on my key fob and was wondering if there was a video of how to replace the case?

Opportune post. Mine's suffering the unpredictable 'blade ' jam and was searching for the thread that recommended a decent casing.
If anyone can point the thread or suggest a source they've used I'd be grateful too.

Thats why mine is broken. Blade stuck so had to force it open

If I had a 3D printer I'd copy mine. I only have one original now and that's a bit scabby. The other was ruined when I got the car, it had broken but been glued and resined together with the blade fixed. I replaced that with Chinese fob casings but it is noticeably tackier.

Mine is suffering the same fate. I've put a nasty piece of celotape around it to stop me closing the blade as I had a few scares when it wouldn't open without alot of shaking!

When I got my GTS this was a job I intended to tackle, even bought a shell off eBay, it’s still on the list as my little metal tag is broken.
One day I will get round to it ...........

Yeah. Me too. Someone handy could probably take 20 orders just from this forum alone.

I had similar issue when I got my car.
One key, the remote didnt work so had to manually use the key.
Rang Maserati. They want £980 plus vat and £80 for the key code.
Needless to say I didnt pay that as essentially I needed two keys.
I contacted a company called Birmingham car keys.
Brilliant guys really helpful.
Got a brand new key and new case ( I supplied the case, ebay ) and battery for my original key all for about £500ish. Still alot of money but far cheaper than Maserati!
Put it through my car insurance so cost me nothing

You can have mine if you like. I bought it 4 years ago, from some Chinese outfit, and never got round to doing anything with it.

Oh thank you Mark. Supplier has suddenly woken up. Sending a second and licking Royal Mail for the first. I need two anyway so if the first doesn't turn up I'll ping.
I'm near Stow on the Wold. You're near Strod if I recall. Good excuse for a blast.
Thanks again Mark

The Chinese key cases finally arrived, ....... from Birmingham with a premium price.
I followed the threads kindly listed by Mark.
Well, one is done.
  1. The replacement case isn't the same sturdiness of the original. Didn't expect it to be, but although the two halves close up when screwed, they work apart at the top.
  2. This is a one way process. Dismantling the original seems only possible by its destruction.
  3. The Maserati logo hiding the screw that holds the two halves together is impossible to remove and attempts more or less irretrievably damaged it. Using the hair drier technique until the logo was just too hot to touch failed to loosen it. I drilled it. You can see where, which uncovers the screw. Don't drill the screw

  1. The replacement electrical contacts aren't much up to much, and fall out. I used the original battery tray, the button contacts, and lower curved item that sits on a lugg.
  2. The transponder is in the upper cavity. Impossible to retrieve. I used a cutting disc, gingerly, don't cut the transponder. It looks like a long thin filament, but most of it is 'glue', with the grain hiding inside. I installed it with a dab of silicon sealer.

The completed key unlocks and locks the car and the boot, so the buttons work.

Here's the old now damaged case next to the new one. If I did the second case, I'd probably put several coats of clear lacquer on it, to ensure a little more durability

I have a question.
I've no idea whether I've damaged the transponder, I don't think that I have.

Would the doors unlock without the transponder, or does the transponder just enable the ignition? I haven't tried the ignition as the car is securely covered up.

I'm deferring destroying the second key until I'm satisfied all is working correctly out of range of the unadulterated key.

Anyone know before I troll up the road out of range of the other original key, and find myself stranded

Not sure that I couldn't live with the original dodgey key
