Levante DIESEL problems - Sports Exhaust Fault and WATER LEAKS

Hello Guys,

I have a 2017 Levante Diesel. This is my first Maserati. I wondered if anyone has got any tips on a couple of issues I have and if you have also experienced them. I did some googling and youtubing but there is a lack of info.

1. Exhaust wont go loud anymore in sports mode. I suspected a valve but couldn't find one on the rear of the car. Can anyone help with locations and what to look for exactly please? I found an ebay listing with this photo for a ghibli exhaust and mine looks very similar. I unplugged one of the wires off the silencer box (the round boxes near the tips) and nothing happened. I also don't see a butterfly valve when looking down the tips as suggested in one Youtube video.

2. LEAKS - Water is in passenger side rear footwell (left side from rear - uk model.). I also find damp and mould in the front ash tray. Front Window condenses up constantly. Some damp found in boot after all trays taken out near the AD BLUE filler. It may be worth noting the ad blue rubber cap was off but I have put that back on now.
What locations do i need to check and re-seal/clear channels etc.. please?

Thanks in advance for your assistance and advice.

Welcome!

Yeah. Valves. Not so sure. You have *speakers* in those 'globes' They have a habit of failing (at least on the Ghiblis). Your sound is created by electronics, I'm afraid. If you start googling for speaker replacements, you'll probably get some ideas

Sorry, can't help on item 2 :(

Do you have a sunroof?

If so the drain holes block and flood into the rear footwells.

Thank you..... speakers.... well no wonder I couldnt find valves anywhere....

Your tip leads me to this video on taking apart a Maserati exhaust for anyone reading this post and having the same issue as me. It looks like a rather involved job for me to do that. I have recently bought a MIG welder so i Guess its somehing i could potentially have a go at.

Ill try and find the speaker part next and see how much that is.

I do, Where exactly would i go looking for the drain holes please? I thought it might have been to do with this. I had an issue with a mini pan roof before and never managed to fix it after a full strip down.

You need some long pipe cleaners that's you can push down the drain holes to see if they're blocked up with dirt.

Re - Drain hole blockage I used a length of plastic coated net curtain wire just make sure to remove any sharp bits prior to use as the drain tubes are quite flimsy.

Corners of the sunroof when it's fully open.

The rear ones are harder to get to.

The front ones are quite easy to get to without removing inner wheel arch liner (at least on my car) carefully pop out one of the wing vents And you should be able to see/grab hold of the pipe & cut the end off.

so its been some weeks and I have now bothered to look at my now mouldy Maserati Levante that has sat out in the rain/snow and now more rain. Well the electrics are going wild with all sorts of stuff going on. Anyway its been drying with the heaters on for 4 hours. Ive had a selection of errors on the computer and then at one point the car decided it was refusing to allow the shifter to go into drive or reverse so I took the negative off the battery for 2 minutes and then it it worked again. Anyway i am not much further on.

1. Looking for the drain vents in the roof - I opened the pan roof and I found 2 small holes in the front corners. I assume if there is more I need to unscrew and remove the glass? I got an air line and blew down it for 30 seconds. Not sure anything really happened to be honest? I dont understand where these drain vents go and why they would empty inside the car?!?!?!

2. I unscrewed the front passenger seat and there is a join/overlap on the carpet under the seat which I pulled back and all I found there was a channel of cables that had a clip box cover over the top. I didnt find any amp?!?!

I did notice 4 screws and a hatch in the carpet directly under the glove box. I opened that and found some sort of cable connections box. its seems to be raised up and the tops of it was dry but down towards the bottom floor plate/chasis I see and feel water. The carpets are quite well built up by polystyrene and then a foam back on the carpet.

Here is some of the error codes when scanning my vehicle...

The second picture is showing the hatch under the glovebox. Not sure what all those things are there. Is this the amp people are talking about?

One other thing that may be worth noting. My car has Harman Kardan sound system. Not sure the ICE shares the same AMP or not

I have a 2018 Levante and noticed damp carpets when driven in heavy rain... I had my valeter clean all the door seals and I made sure all of them were correctly seated. After that I have not noticed any damp carpets.

It might be worth cleaning and conditioning the rubber seals around the areas you notice dampness.

If the seals get dry over time, Gummi Plefge revitalises the rubber so it can flex and offer a proper seal (not used on my Levante, but used on a prior BMW to stop one of the seals squeaking due to movement).

Also see if you can notice water sloshing around the doors... maybe something is amiss there.

The thing is my car is getting wet from it sat for weeks not being used. mould forms on the back seat and footwells and in the front door cards and strangely in the front ash tray where the usb is under the screen. I will get this gummi pfledge product and treat the seals. its the first ive heard of the product but i will give it a go. right now the car is now garaged and im scared to take it out. I do need to finish stripping back. its something i am doing as and when i have time.
