I prefer to look at it as where else could you get ewquivelant weight savings cheaper?

assuming you already did wheels and brakes

Unless you're regularly tracking your car, I wouldn't bother with trying to weight save on a GT. Not the right car to start with.

Yamaha ran an advert of how they managed to shed 5kg from the new R1...then had a picture of a biker having a very large burger and chips...

There are a few benefits of Lithium for me.

1. They are high cyclic, so can be discharged lower and more regularly than a lead acid battery without damage

2. They have a much longer service life

3. The built in battery management system cuts off power if the battery power reduces to the point where it won’t start the car. Meaning you can always start even if it has gone “flat”.

Downside. They are chuffing expensive in comparison.

Second this. Fitted lithium batteries to all my motorcycles. Cannot recommend them enough. Massive cranking power, fully recharge in no time at all. Don’t give off toxic hydrogen sulphide when they fail. Much smaller, lighter, and easier to install. Longer lasting.

Never had any issues with the alternators.
