Locking Wheelnut

When I couldn't find the one for our old VX220, I hammered on an old deep fit socket and had all 4 off in about 30 seconds, if someone wants to steal something they will.
Not having them is worth the risk vs. being stuck in a situation where you need it and it's gone or broken, or over torqued and impossible to remove.

Whats the best way to get hold of s replacement locking wheelnut quickly? MoT due and I looked in the bits and bobs tray in the boot and I'm diffy the locking nut and need a reolacement asap. I'm also presuming the correct pattern can be identified from the VIN?
The problem you have is that they will not be factory locking wheel nuts, so you'll probably draw a blank there. Best get someone to come round and remove them - to get a matching 22mm bolt you'll have to go second hand or from Eurospares / Scuderia.

I had the guy from KwikFit call me asking where I’d left the locking wheel but for the Insignia company car I’d just dropped off. I told him those particular WHEEL TRIMS weren’t locked on. He was a bit embarrassed, I think.

So answering my own question, took it in and as you guys advised, no locking nuts. Thankfully I didn’t have to splash out getting that sorted on top of the £1150 for a new set of tyres!

As a Automotive Professional I second what Sam says get rid of them.
The time spent trying to find the lock nut remover in people's cars and finding things you don't want to is unbelievable.
I hate them.
Good customers always leave everything you need on the passenger seat when they drop the car off.
Good Luck.
You'll be pleased to know i bin the locking wheel nuts on all my cars including my GT. I've only once seen a car on the side of the road on bricks with no wheels fitted. That was a subaru in Bristol about 15 years ago
