Looking for a 4200 or GS

Good evening gentlemen.

I was all set to purchase a 997 and then started looking at face-lift 4200s and have decided that I need something Italian and V8 powered in my life. I've just missed out on a 2006 manual with a red interior. Now, you lot seem to watch the market pretty closely. What are the chances of me seeing another 05 face-lift with that interior in the next 3 months? Or a GS?

Looks like the dealers have a stranglehold here, especially with the "investment grade" GS. Do you see many cherished private GSs or late 4200s about? What would they go for (50-60k miles would be ok)? Really looking for full leather and if it's a 4200 then would prefer manual. Oh yeah, and that red interior. Maybe black or beige but definitely no light colours.

I don't want much really....and I'd like a car to enjoy when the days get longer so the clock is ticking!

Face lift 4200 are rare and limiting yourself to red leather could result in a very long wait (Or one will come up tomorrow)

GS are holding their value well...expect at least £25 k for a decent one with the miles below 55k

Give Richard Grace a call or ADG and Novola in London...all may have access to cars about to come onto the market.

Try a Cambiocorsa before deciding on manual. You might be pleasantly surprised.

You need to speak to ADG, Richard Grace and Nuvola as they have their finger on the pulse of most GS's/4200's which come onto the market.
The GS is a CC gearbox only by the way.

A big warm welcome to the forum....As above really give Richard Grace a call as if the car is out there he will know and probably be able to find it for you...Manual 4200's are rare but are out there.....not many in facelift form either......As Geoff has said ... all GS are paddle shift....don't rule them out as they are a great drive.

Many thanks for the info. Definitely not ruling out the CC. Especially if I see one with a red interior...

Want to avoid the dealer premium if at all possible. I get peace of mind from a folder of receipts and an independent inspection.... Nuvola have a couple of cars that I'd be test driving tomorrow if they were a bit cheaper!

Cambiocorsa is a lot of fun, especially when you get used to it and if it's set up right.

Get some knowledge from the forum about the options that you want.

Keep an eye on the sale forum here, they do come up. I sold mine in September although it wasn't a facelift. Just be patient and I'm sure you'll get one.

Price wise £17-20k for a private purchase facelift I would guess.

Anywhere between £15k and £23k for a face lift 4200. Mines a 2007 with 37k on the clock when i bought it. There was a 2008 and if i remember didnt somebody post a link for a 2009 model on the forum last year.

This time of year i would of thought you will find a good one 2005 to 2007 with below 45k for £18 to 20k if its a good one. The red interior is a different matter. First hint of spring sunshine though and the prices will start to increase.

Gosh, thats cheap!
I went to see some that looked good in photos, but turned out to be very different in the flesh.
Also I found the smell of the leather in my 3200 was fantastic. But when I had a face lift it didn't have the same smell. I think only the top sides of the seats are leather as opposed to being full all round. Now have the GS which again has that smell of the 3200. Just the smell makes you realise your in a pedigree marque.

Think I previously ruled that one out for the high miles before checking the interior colour. Hopefully the last service being in 2013 is a typo. Will give them a call and find out what their interpretation of full service history is... any views on that patchy looking engine cover? Do they often get like that?

Yep...only the T of the dash and the seat faces are real leather on the 4200/GS along with the parts you hold (door pulls and steering wheel)

The gold painting on the Pelham is a PITA if you jet wash it it flakes off...just dab with WD40 to clean it.

I would say that it probably isn't a typo......This car is the lowest priced face lift on the market and although the miles are high if it was a perfect example then it would command a few more £1000's. It looks like the car has not really done any miles for a number of years which can happen with these cars.....As said this car has been for sale for a very long time.

I think I might start my search with a 4200 and then progress to GSs if I can't find what I want. Although if your asking price was closer to 20 than 30k, and you've got full leather, then I might be tempted...
